Given how many HDTVs have component inputs but no s-video, RGB to Component (or HDMI if the TV doesn't support 240p over component, or VGA if the TV has it) I'd argue that RGB can be easier to get working on modern TVs than S-video.
Those ultra cheap converters do actually work decently enough, but in their case most of it depends on your TV.

virtually all the issues that would come with those ultra cheap RGB to component transcoders (poor/laggy scaling on the HDTV, 240p incompatibility, etc) are completely eliminated if you're just using it on a CRT.Ziggy587 wrote:But the OP said he'd go with a CRT, or already has one.
