Why World War Z is the most insulting movie of the year

With the first six books (many say first 3-4) he really had something interesting going. I was completely hooked by the first two and the third one I would consider one of the best fantasy books I have read. After Lord of Chaos though I don't know what the hell happened, and yeah once I read Winter's Heart I angrily gave up. I don't have very much bad to say about Jordan (he does get way overboard times, ie taking 3 pages to describe the embroidery on someone's dress) or the series, but I wouldn't really talk highly off it because I think it is very inconsistent and in the end simply frustrating.

Still better than Martin though.

lol im not saying who is better or not, but I've noticed that Martin does do the same thing. He goes into great detail (well maybe not 3 pages, ha) about dinners, or suits of armor, etc.

I think he is more irritated by the flippant way you have argued and twisted things. Instead of discussing the points you were vwry snarky and tried to take potshots from an unrelated prior disagreement.

No, I think he's just irritated that his argument from before made no sense. Arrogance can do that to people.

I don't know what argument you thought I was making, and maybe that imagined argument made no sense to you, but the ones I did actually make? I explained and defended those in a way which made perfect sense to everyone in that thread but you.

Actually re-reading the later books on a follow up read through before the Sanderson books, I came to appreciate them more than I did the first time around.

I tried to do the same thing but I got burnt out at Fires of Heaven. Truth be told I wasn't very happy about the whole ordeal with Jordan's death and Sanderson and was kind of forcing myself through it all, but couldn't.

I may as well ask how you thought Sanderson's WoT books were.

They are excellent. But I also already liked Sanderson as an author. Many say these books are the best since book six. He does Jordan and the series justice wrapping it all up.

So, going back to World War Z.

I think we can all agree that the movie is at least mistitled; Congress never declares war on the zombies, nor does any other nation. Additionally, you can't even declare war on the zombies, as they do not constitute a nation. Calling it "World War" is like "The War on Drugs" or "The Vietnam War". None of them are legally wars; the first is in essence a worldwide riot, the second a shifting in focus of law enforcement agencies, and the third a massive deployment of troops that isn't technically a war, even though the scale of the conflict is at what one traditionally considers to be a war.

Well I think society as a collective 'declared' war on the zombies, at the end. Once they found the 'camouflage', they could take the fight to the front lines without having issue.

I liked this remake, not sure if I liked it better than the original - "I Am Legend"

I've never read the book. I watched it last week and didn't care for it.

Thought it was boring after the first half hour or so, and very disjointed. Subplots just went nowhere [like the family in danger]. And the ending? Sheesh!
