I know the Power Base Converter won't work with SG-1000 games through any means, but I've read on Wikipedia through the compatibility chart of Sega Cards that My Card EPs work on Power Base Converter and Mega Adapter through an add-on. Is this true? And what add-on should I use?
Two other questions I have is whether the Card Catcher works with an American Sega Master System and, by extension, a Power Base Converter (and what cards will work with it) and if the Mega Adapter is for Mark III games and will work with the Card Catcher.
Many thanks in advance if you can answer these questions!
Do My Card EP & Card Catcher work with Power Base Converter?
Do My Card EP & Card Catcher work with Power Base Converter?
N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.
Re: Do My Card EP & Card Catcher work with Power Base Conver
The card catcher is a Japanese cart, so it would not fit into an American Master System.
The Power Base Converter has its own card reader in it, however as the Genesis/Megadrive is lacking the video games required (and since the converter is really just a passthrough), it can't play SG-1000 card games.
The Master System 1 can play My Cards (which store SG-1000 games) from all regions.
EDIT: To answer the quest in your title, there is no way to play SG-1000/My Card SG-1000 games via a Genesis, the console lacks the video options, the Power Base Converter, Card Catcher are just passthroughs and don't contain hardware.

It will not work with Japanese MyCards unless you perform a BIOS or region mod.emwearz wrote: The Master System 1 can play My Cards (which store SG-1000 games) from all regions.

Seems your right, I thought the Master System could play all card games, but looks like it is only the Mark III, out of luck then.ApolloBoy wrote:It will not work with Japanese MyCards unless you perform a BIOS or region mod.emwearz wrote: The Master System 1 can play My Cards (which store SG-1000 games) from all regions.
Time to invest in a SG1000,SG1000II,Mark III or a SC3000/H.
Re: Do My Card EP & Card Catcher work with Power Base Conver
On that note there is no confirmed functional pin adapter for cartridge SG-1000, Mark III, or JP SMS games.
In practice among the strongest lockouts in console history.
Carts that don't use SG-1000 mode should work for Genesis with Power Base Converter.

Or a Japanese SMS, I have one and it's without a doubt the best of the Japanese SMS consoles. Get one with a cart converter (which you can get from ToToTEK) and you'll never need to use a non-Japanese system ever again.emwearz wrote:Time to invest in a SG1000,SG1000II,Mark III or a SC3000/H.
Weren't you told on SMS Power that someone already did?theclaw wrote:On that note there is no confirmed functional pin adapter for cartridge SG-1000, Mark III, or JP SMS games.

Not that I recall. With how much I've talked about it, my tune would be very different then.ApolloBoy wrote:Or a Japanese SMS, I have one and it's without a doubt the best of the Japanese SMS consoles. Bump! According to this page from Wikipedia:
SG-1000, Mark III, Master System & My Card EP
Mega Adapter
(Sega Enterprises)
× ○ ● ●
My Card unusable. Sega Card not officially supported. Also compatible with some other Mega Drive Mega adapters.
Power Base Converter
(Sega of America)
× ● ○ ●
USA Mega adapter. SegaCard is of course supported. Japanese My Card Mark III not officially supported.
Okay so,
1. Is the My Card EP a SG-1000 card?
2. I can use Mark III cards on Master System (Power Base Converter) and Master System cards on Mark III (Mega Adapter) with an adapter? Or does it work by making it region free and using the same card slot?

Re: Do My Card EP & Card Catcher work with Power Base Conver
My Card EP is pretty rare. It should work if the game loaded is Mark III format.
Card Catcher I don't know. For practical use you'd need a Mark III adapter compatible with Genesis models the original Power Base Converter doesn't fit. I'm not aware of third party adapters to play card slot games on Genesis 2.

Re: Do My Card EP & Card Catcher work with Power Base Conver
First off, the "My Card" name is the Japanese name for the format as a whole, it doesn't just refer to SG-1000 cards. "Sega Card" is what was used outside Japan.BitFaced wrote:Bump! According to this page from Wikipedia:

Anyway, it depends on what game you have loaded on the EP, most of the games available were SG-1000 titles but there were some Mark III/SMS titles. You can use cards from either region on any Genesis or MD with the proper converter, the Genesis/MD doesn't check for the header file in the actual ROM file like the non-Japanese SMS does.
There aren't any third-party converters that support card games.theclaw wrote:'m not aware of third party adapters to play card slot games on Genesis 2.
