Because it was cool at the time, and we were easily influenced kids.

John Conner was cool as shit when I was that age.

And Terminator 2 is still the greatest action movie ever made.

Ohh...it's up there for good action films, but I don't know if I could consider it the best. Hardboiled is really incredible.

I've been on a Kurt Russell kick lately, so I watched Backdraft last night. It's okay, Billy Baldwin did a decent job and it was interesting to see Russell in a pretty damaged role. The fire scenes were well shot and are aesthetically pleasing. It's a little dated, with the 90s saxophone-driven romance music and such, but overall an enjoyable flick.
