I suppose it depends on which you've played after 1. Have you played Reach? It's quite good, so is 4.Sano wrote:Don't know how unpopular my input on this subject is, but I don't like any of the Halo series after Halo 1. The rest just seem like they are retrofitted and what not.

There are four really decent games in the Seiken Densetsu (Mana) series: Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Children of Mana.
Legend of Mana and and Dawn of Mana are both tedious and frustrating. Sword of Mana is okay, but inferior to the original game. Heroes of Mana is unplayable.

Legend of Mana is definitely tedious and frustrating. It's also meandering and you never feel like you have much of a sense of progression.BoneSnapDeez wrote: Legend of Mana and and Dawn of Mana are both tedious and frustrating.
...but damn is it a beautiful looking game. Great soundtrack too.

Sonic the hedgehog has never really been any competition for Mario. The genesis games are pretty fun but they aren't great. The whole Sonic adventure series is really overrated. People like to think that he'll be getting back on track sometime but he never really was on track. He had some fun games but he was never the great character people like to make him out to be (except for blast processing that changed EVERYTHING!).

Whether 16-bit Sonic games are better than 16-bit Mario games or not is a matter of taste, but as a character Sonic is superior to Mario. Mario (and Link for that matter) is not an interesting or well designed character.JayJaySut wrote:He had some fun games but he was never the great character people like to make him out to be (except for blast processing that changed EVERYTHING!).
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I like the NES Marios, but the Sonic games (some) were easily superior to Super Mario World I thought. Can't think of many platformers that had better phyiscs than MS and Genesis Sonics around that time.JayJaySut wrote:Sonic the hedgehog has never really been any competition for Mario. I can understand the Sonic the Hedgehog games not being for everybody (The same can be said for Super Mario Bros.), but the character was very well designed. Mario just kind of "happened" and became a great mascot for the company. However, Sonic was built from the ground up to have an "attitude" and to be a "cool" character (although those characteristics weren't really seen until it hit the US market). Sonic still has comic books being released to this day. While the "Super Mario Bros. Adventures" comics were great, Mario himself failed to impress me. Luigi had more character than his brother.JayJaySut wrote:Sonic the hedgehog has never really been any competition for Mario. The genesis games are pretty fun but they aren't great. Mario's design is pretty much entirely a product of utility, which I think is pretty cool honestly.

Mega Man > Sonic and Mario
