My ugly credit card (it's too shiny) covers the insurance so I always go without.

A lot of car rentals specifically forbid going to other states so you'd better check that ahead of time. At least they do around here there where you can't reach another state on your lunch break.
We will actually be around Houston, not sure where the place is exactly. My wife has a friend she wants to meet up with in Louisiana, so yeah, I will check that out. Thanks for the heads up :)
When I had to go back to La for a funeral, we checked into rentals and the cheapest I think was Budget, and for some reason it was cheaper if I picked it up at the airport. We ended up not going for it because while my mom was going to pay for it, the rates nearly tripped because I'm under 24 years old and I would be driving the car. I ended up just flying to La, which was a 30 minute ride and a little under $300 and I landed in New Orleans.

If your wife's friend is in the Greater New Orleans area, that's where Jinx and I are from. If she has any questions or concerns about it we would be happy to help.
I'm here for your body.

I just checked with my insurance company. They said as long as I have full coverage on at least one vehicle (which I do), then we are covered and don't need any additional insurance.

And all of it is wrong. Take it from a New Yorker. Not just me, who's only lived here a few years. Come talk to my brother, who was born here, grew up here, and lived here all his life.
How do you genuinely know this about my research? You said to consult a real New Yorker, but how do you, or anyone for that matter, know that the person who posted this information isn't a real New Yorker?

No clue. But then again, where I am it's more Kissimmee. And I already knew that crime in NYC is pretty low at this time, being the safest of all the major cities in the country, even Orlando.

~80-90% :) - As for me, had my assessment today. Did pretty well, but when it came to my actual shift, which comprised the last two hours, I did pretty okay but I could have done much much better. It's also hot, hot, HOTTTT! I still have two more days this week, and after Friday I don't work again until Monday, followed by Tuesday and Wednesday. And I get paid on Thursday and with all the hours I'm gonna get this week I should get a nice-sized paycheck.

:?: Don't know if I'll be off on my birthday.

I have the same issue with my PSP. Which model are you using? I'm using the PSP-1000, which I've had since getting it in 2005.

Thankfully we are both older than 25, so I don't think that will be an issue for us. She said her friend lived roughly 3 hours from where we will be in Texas. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the town my brother is moving to. All I know at this point is that it's about a half hour away in some direction from Houston. So I would assume it's in one of the bordering counties. I will PM you or Jinx if she or myself come across any questions. Thanks :)

I was going to say, just getting from Houston to the Louisiana border on I-10 is 120 miles, you'd better know what you're getting into.

It's one of those things man, one of those things. It just can't be a simple "help my brother move". It's gotta be "Oh! Well, while we are down there..." :? Marriage rage, lol.

Sounds like it can be anywhere from the border to Baton Rouge. For us, it's a 5 hour car ride if traffic in Baton Rouge isn't bad. Or construction. I got caught in construction last time and it turned into a 7.5 hour car ride. Our hometown is only about 35 minutes away from the Mississippi border so we go across the whole state.

Which isn't bad, considering we live in Kansas and it's an hours drive to do anything where we live. Her family lives in Denver, so we travel 6.5-7 hour depending on weather, traffic, etc. From our house to her mom's house. Only bad thing is she will be making that drive herself, and in unfamiliar territory. I'm debating weather or not to just go with her, because then we could probably just drop the rental car off at the airport and head home from LA. But if I do go along, I'll miss out on hanging out with my brother at his new place.. So I have some decisions to make.

I can understand the "well we're closer than we are when at home", but you could be adding 4-10 hours of driving for a visit and you're already going to be tired and grumpy with moving.
