So what have you guys been watching lately?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Has anyone watched Revolution? I was interested from the previews, since it seemed like a mini Lost, but apparently its signed up for two more seasons, so it has to have some meat.

The talk show on ABC, the British game show, or the scifi show on NBC?

All three obviously.

And despite people wanting to compare it to Firefly, it's really NOTHING alike other than it taking place in the future. And Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek TNG) does a helluva job as his character Day-Tak (not sure if that's how it's spelled, just trying to get the pronunciation right).

The characters, the tension between the alien races, the layers of subterfuge happening, and the city itself are becoming more fleshed out and building towards something big.

The end of every episode keeps me wanting more.
Are you talking about the main albino guy? because that's not Spiner. That's the guy that played Marcus in Underworld 2. I watched up until the 4th or 5th episode and it still didn't grab me so I stopped.

Have they moved past everyone trying to say Shock-Tar or whatever? It just seems so cheap.

You're right, I just IMDB-ed it. I would have bet money that was Brent Spiner. Either way, I love the character.

And yeah, they still use Shock-Tar as an expletive. I don't see it as any different than "Pu-Tak" in Star Trek, or "Shock" in the Marvel 2099 universe.

Well, I think there are levels of use that come into play.

Trek has pu-tak but it wasn't used ALL the time. It was used sparingly.

Then you have BattleStar Galactica level use of stuff like frack. At the beginning it was frackin' impossible to frackin' get through a motherfrackin' episode without the frackin' word frack used at least 390 frackin' times. It got way out of hand.

Then you have Firefly which used stuff like gorram, or whatever other words but with good reason, Sino-American culture abounded. But it also wasn't overused. It was just peppered in.

This Defiance show seems to be right in the middle of Trek and BSG usage of shocktar or whatever. It just seems so wanna-be to me. But like I said, the show just didn't grab me after a while. It seems a lot like Falling Skies. Just... meh.

Did they say Frak in the original Battlestar Galactica? If not, then they stole that one from Lobo from DC Comics.

They said Frack. They dropped the C in the new version for a reason.

I watched the Revolution pilot and didn't feel the need to watch any more. Typical network show.
