Yeah I went to Wikipedia and looked. (I don't have a Kinect). I guess I kinda remember it after reading about it, but really the whole Harry Potter movie series - despite having a few well made films as part of it - was generally so convoluted an uninteresting that I've forgotten much of it. I think the fact that I watched every film except the last one highlights how little I cared about the characters and story, or about seeing how it all ended.Blu wrote:Or apparently didn't. Were you sleeping Dave? Your kinect knows the truth.noiseredux wrote:I only saw the first one...
EDIT: According to internetz, it happened in Half-Blood Prince, which you did see.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Its not convoluted. It's young adult fiction, not a CHILTON car manual. The story is pretty straight forward, and you garner a better appreciation for characters if you read the books.dsheinem wrote: was generally so convoluted
Sure, not necessary to read the books, but it does help.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I'd argue that YAF is often by definition convoluted, whereas Chiltons are designed to break down complexity into an understandable schema.indecks wrote: It's young adult fiction, not a CHILTON car manual.
I get why people like the Potter series, it just couldn't hold my interest. In all honesty, I can't think of any series of books or films that tell one story over so many installments that ever have. It's just too much.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
There's 7 books, not 85. Each book represents a year in his what is basically Jr High and Highschool. It truly isn't a convoluted story. If you want convoluted-over-several-books, look at Game of Thrones, The Wheel of Time, Xanth, etc.dsheinem wrote:indecks wrote: many installments that ever have. It's just too much.
Seriously man, I mean no disrespect but in the case of the Potter books/movies, you really sound like you don't know what you're talking about.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I've not read the books, but I know what I'm talking about as regards the films. There are 8 of them. That is far too many films to tell what is essentially one long story. I can't think of any other film series that does this, as even long running horror franchises are much more episodic in nature (as is the TV show Game of Thrones, obviously). As a film series, I felt the story has too many things shoehorned into it for the purposes of extending the series, the characters were largely flat, and the outcomes were always predictable or meh.indecks wrote:There's 7 books, not 85. Maybe the books are a different thing, but in all honesty I can't recall any book series I've read that is longer than 3-4 books (with the exception of the short Narnia series).

Lol they couldn't hold my interest either which is why I stopped after the first movie. How many did you watch again Dave?

I know I sound like I'm harping on you but this just doesn't make any sense. You said the movies didn't hold your interest, and there are just too many for this ultra-layered and convoluted story (it isnt)... and you've seen all but one of them?dsheinem wrote:all but the lastnoiseredux wrote:Lol they couldn't hold my interest either which is why I stopped after the first movie. I could understand your argument a little more if you'd watched maybe 3 of them and said 'this shit sux' and stopped. I could see them not holding your interest.
But you've watched 7/8ths of the story and NOW you claim its not interesting enough for you to continue?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
well apparently i forgot a major plot point from part 6, so yeah...i probably lost interest after 4 or so and everything after was just me trying my best to stick it out. Clearly I wasn't that invested by that point...indecks wrote:I know I sound like I'm harping on you but this just doesn't make any sense.
