Just got a 3do...
Re: Just got a 3do...
I got my 3DO about two years ago for $19. I've never seen it hit $100, but maybe the climate has changed.
Re: Just got a 3do...
My wife and I spent $60.00, and while I know if it was the best price, but we love it not as collectors, but as gamers.

Re: Just got a 3do...
So I've finally bucked down and decided to get a 3DO. The tipping point is when I found a sealed copy of Star Control II for $15 on the Amazon Marketplace. So now I'll be heading to a store on Saturday to pick up a 3DO, with the option between the Panasonic version for $40 or the Goldstar for $30. Assuming both packages are complete (cords, controllers) and in good condition, is one version preferable to another for reasons outside aesthetics?

Re: Just got a 3do...
So following on from my earlier post in this thread:
I went and picked up my 3do system from the Post Office earlier today.
I set everything up and connected it to the tv via s-video. The intro 3do logo came up on the screen, and I thought so far so good. So I put in a game disc to try out one of the games and the unit made a spinning noise as if it was trying to read the disc and then......nothing. The green light on the front of the system switched off and it went back to showing the 3do intro logo and informing me to "insert disc" or something to that effect.
I tried every single one of the games and some music cd's as well, but nada, it just refuses to read any disc at all.
So I'm pretty pissed off right now and I'm just asking you guys whether you might have some advice for me that might be of some help. I mean I've opened the system up and got rid of any dust that was in there and also lightly cleaned the lens, but as I say, it just won't read the discs.

Thierry Henry - Perhaps this is a little late, but I just read your post about the 3DO problem. My initial thought is the laser lens either A.) needs to be adjusted, or B.) needs to be replaced. It could also be a problem with one of the cd-rom related components like the little gears that operate the lens, etc.
Have you been able to resolve this issue since you last posted?

Hi,
Yeah, I did resolve the issue. I went and bought another 3do system! lol
As for the faulty system, there's a guy here in South Africa that runs a store that specializes in repairing and doing AV modifications on older console systems. He couldn't repair mine but bought it off me(system's memory was intact and cosmetically the console was still in good condition) to use as spare parts on other faulty systems. So at least I recouped some of my losses.

I'm joining the 3DO owners club now
I'm hoping this was a good deal, because I'm pretty excited about getting this.
What I got:
Sanyo TRY 3DO (japanese)
Sanyo 3DO controller
A/V cords
Shockwave (japanese)
Myst (japanese)
Road and Track presents Overdrivin' (Need for Speed, japanese)
all for $71 shipped. I am choosing surface mail (1-3 months) so I've got a pretty lengthy wait to get the system...

Re: Just got a 3do...
bump! just got it today! so far I'm loving this system, even if I don't have any games in english for it yet. One weird thing though, when I carry it with the front facing down the disc tray slides out...is that normal or is there supposed to be a part that keeps it from doing that? It does work 100% fine when you hit the open/close button.

Defenitely not normal, but they are not that reliable anyways. Well mine aren't, one never worked the FZ1 and the FZ10 reads copies ocasionally, but loves originals!nick944 wrote:bump! just got it today! so far I'm loving this system, even if I don't have any games in english for it yet.
