I just got the Lock's Quest game yesterday and I think it is rather neat. I also liked Trauma Center just because it used the stylus so well. And Panzer Tactics. I loved the Panzer General series so much I had to get it and if you like strategy, its pretty good.

Ouendan and/or Elite Beat Agents - A music game, you play using the stylus only. If you like music games you probably like this one. Ouendan has Japanese songs of course since it's the Japanese version. If you don't like the sound of that go for Elite Beat Agents.

Phantom Hourglass - I know some hardcore Zelda fans didn't really liked this game, but for me it's the best game i played for a long time with amazing use of the stylus and lots of creativity.

Phoenix Wright Series - This game is based mainly on story, which is amazing with outstanding plot twists at times. However if you don't really like reading through text all the time avoid it. If you have the patience this game will reward you though.

New Super Mario Bros - Everything you will expect from a 2D classic Mario game. Only flaws are that is easy and short.

Yoshi's Island DS - If you liked the original chances are that you like this one also. IMO it has inferior level design in comparison to the original. Also it's short but challenging. Way more challenging that the original. And that to be honest surprised me.

Castleroid *cough* Castlevania Series If you liked Symphony Of The Night you can't go wrong. Simple 2D greatness. Order Of Ecclesia is on the way, we will see how good will it be.

Megaman ZX & ZX Advent - I don't really liked the changes they made, Megaman Zero Series for GBA are better, but both are at least decent games. Keep in mind that they don't fucking around, they are super challenging!

The World Ends With You - You will love or you will going to hate this innovative action rpg. I can't really say much about this really.

Other good/common DS games are

Mario Kart DS

Contra 4

Bleach DS Series

Metroid Prime Hunters

Nintendogs

Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword

Mario And Luigi Partners In Time

Lunar Knights

Sonic Rush

They are also more but these are my favorites and i can think right now.

ZOMG I just realized the DS is my most played system in the last 2-3 years!

Bleach DS Series
Yeah, these are some nice fighting games, and relatively import friendly. You basically just learn to memorize what the menus are (the submenus really, as the game has a voice over for the main menus), and what each card does (easy to associate the ones that actually matter with the faces).

Only problem is I don't think I can play online against people with the US version, and I can't purchase that version, as I'm too used to the Japanese voices.

Oh, and let's not forget Metroid Prime Pinball. It's a solid challenge, and it's great for both super-short sessions and longer sessions.

A few that I enjoy:

Animal Crossing
Bangai-O Spirits
Contact
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Elecroplankton
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (If you have someone to play co-op with)
Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (not as good as the PS1 original, but fairly deep)
FF XII: Revenant Wings (somewhat dumbed down combat but deep gameplay in other areas)
Glory Day 2 (really awesome, especially in multiplayer)
Lost in Blue (I like the original the most--it's the hardest)
Mario Kart
New Super Mario Bros.
Settlers (It's buggy, yes, but it's still Settlers on a portable)
Soma Bringer
Touch The Dead (best if you have someone to co-op with)
Yoshi TOuch and Go (an amazing game that is rarely mentioned)

Indeed. I found it disappointing. I'll stick to the traditional Zeldas, thank you very much. :)
Something I don't like about the DS is the mindset that JUST BECAUSE there is a stylus, you have to use it. Maybe I'm just worn out on the whole stylus idea because I've been using a pocket pc (touch screen of course) for years now. So when the DS came out I just thought "Innovation? This has been around forever." Anyone else with me? Or am I just too miserly?

Touch screen is cool at times. There are also a ton of games for the DS that don't even use the touch screen, or use it very minimally. This includes some really fantastic games like Sonic Rush and Castlevania.

Either way, Phantom Hourglass was outstanding and used the DS' many functions better than any other game on the system. All I need to do to prove this is sight the "Map Stamp" puzzle. For those who don't know, the map was on the top screen of the DS and you had drawn a star shaped seal on it earlier. Later when you're in a temple that same seal is on a door that's blocking your path. The game tells you that you have to find some way to open this and says something like "Haven't you seen this before?"

So you call up the map on which you had drawn the seal. So as you're standing there the door is in front of link on the bottom screen and the seal is on the top screen. You then fold down the top screen until the DS is closed, thus "pressing" the map and seal against the front of the door.

You then hear a cliking noise, open up the DS, and you've unlocked the door. Now that is a good gameplay mechanic, and one that not many people would have thought up.
