To interject for a moment, I am listening to Pep Love's new album "The Rigmarole" and these two songs are great examples of modern hip-hop.

Hiero! Brilliant! Was recent the A+ stuff any good in your opinion? I didn't really give it enough headspace and wonder if I should?

Del is my favorite... and sadly he has fell off. The Deltron track was tight though.

As for the rest its just as good as it was... it seems that as they have aged/matured so has their music. The flows, content and beats are smoother and have a somewhat refined touch to them. So far I highly recommend what I have heard - mainly Pep Love's album which is free to listing too in the links I posted.

Has he? I haven't actually heard any of his recent bandcamp albums. But I've got his major releases. My favs would be No Need For Alarm and Deltron 3030 (naturally) though that Best of Elektra had a lot of good raritiess like the "Wrongplace" remix and the track with Dinosaur Jr. Anyway, looking forward to the new Deltron. He's def an underrated performer. I think the last thing I really heard from him though was his track on Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Movement so that was like what? 2007?

The bandcamp stuff was weak. He did have one album,Parallel Uni-Verses, with the Tame One that was pretty sweet. It was almost electromagnetic sounding.

The more I listen to the Pep Love album, the more I have to say it may be one of the best true to hip hop albums in a long time. Possibly, remember its still new to me, my favorite album of the last two years barely nudging "Hot Sauce Committee Part Two" down a notch.

SB, if you don't have Masta Ace's recent MA DOOM album you need to hear that. I think you'd love it. I turned Luke onto it and he can vouch. It's entirely produced by MF DOOM. Anyway, it's so timeless. Ace always sounds like he's stuck in 1994... but in a good way.

Coincidentally I went to a house warming party last night and the first song played on the stereo was from 36 chambers.

Pretty sure I've mastered the dumb dance too. This guy loves to dance. My break dancing is still weak; I would say I'm at Vin Diesel level, but can still crush groove.

I've loved Hip Hop since it was called "Electro" and still think 1988 may well be the best year ever! Sorry to everyone too young to remember it, but I am officially old!

Anyway the current stuff is still really interesting if you can get your head around it, so a couple of suggestions from me would be ADd+ for Outkast-style stuff and Rahsad and Confidence's "The Element of Surprise" for classic-era-sounding modern rap (you guys may know all this already!). Torae's "For The Record" is brilliant, and GG Doom's "But How?" is Doom getting back to "Mouse and the Mask" greatness. Just freakin love him. For the new-sound I can stretch to Ab Soul and a bit of Schoolboy Q, and have a soft-spot for Earl Sweatshirt, also if you haven't heard Curren$y's "Weekend At Burnie's" I would recommend it straight away (as I have already in another thread ages ago).

Grown-man (read:old man) rap has me enjoying most of Phonte's stuff especially some Little Brother and his solo "Charity Begins At Home" for more of that soulful-married-with-kids feel too

Finally, somebody who appreciates the Rashad and Confidence album. I gave that shit a 10/10 at rapreviews.com. Good to see more hip hop heads on here. I'm 26 myself, but having a daughter has really made me appreciate the more mature style of hip hop that artists such as Phonte and Torae provide. The beauty with hip hop is that it encompasses so many different styles, and it's why I enjoy watching the Deadend Hip Hop videos on Youtube seeing Mike (the "backrap/alternative") feuding with Beezy (the boom bap traditional one) and Feefo (the youngest, more mainstream guy).
