Played again last night for the first time in ages. I just arrived back in my home city after it was attacked. I'm guessing that this is still considered "the beginning of the game" by most of you.

My characters are approaching level 10. Do most people promote around 20? I can't remember what I did in SF1.

You can't promote until 20 at minimum. I've always promoted at level 20 and never had any issues of feeling under leveled.

I'm pretty much around that point as well.

Got sidetracked with Sonic Generations and general laziness. Finished a battle on a bridge, and am now in Tristan.

Crazy busy the last couple of weeks. Restarted the game today - hope to stay with it this time.

Finished the first two battles. All of my characters are level 5, 6, or 7. About 80 minutes in. Oh, and I found some mithril. What does that do???

There is a hidden shop near the end of the game that can transform the mithril into the best weapons in the game for all your characters. There are a lot of pieces of mithril in the game; more than enough to fully equip your end game party. Also note that when you get the weapons made, the weapon you get is random for the particular character (so you say make it for Chester, it will be a Pegasus Knight weapon, but randomly selected among the top 3-4).

I'm also (finally) joining the fray. I done about 10 battles yesterday.
I really like SRPGs and I'm quite enjoying it so far. Personally, I could do without the "JRPG" aspects of town and overhead exploring and get more quickly into the battles, but it is an interesting combination (a bit different from how Fire Emblem handles itself).

Interesting. I feel like I'm going to run out of slots to put it though, as each character can only hold like 4 items. Though I have a feeling I'm gonna end up with a lot of characters...................
