Shit man you have like 80 percent of FFXII right there. Too bad they had to cram in Vaan and Penelo in to meet their pretty boy/teen quota. It's kinda obvious they weren't meant to be the protagonists when you play it, because they do absolutely nothing important to the story. They just kinda follow around all the more important (and much older) characters.

It's got a lot of problems, and had some development issues, but it's worth playing I think. Kinda gives you a nice glimpse into what a more mature Final Fantasy might've been like.

Somehow in my crazy head this came to mind when I thought of an Adult Final Fantasy

FFXII was kind of the exception though. When you compare it to all the other FFs of the past decade or so it's like one of these things is not like the others. I loved FFXII though, great game, but it definitely marched to the beat of its own drummer compared to the others

It's a shame that FFXII wasn't more popular with fans. Imagine where the series would be today if that game dictated the direction the rest of the franchise took?

Harvest Moon: Failing Economy

Your supplies consistently cost you more than your goods' return, you watch your villager friends fail to realize their scholarly or entrepreneurial dreams, and the training your child gets for any of his/her possible career paths winds up worthless in adulthood. This game is Unwinnable by Design... but at least there are still multiple endings.

Honestly it does already happen somewhat in certain games. In Magical Melody, shipping particular item types brings in new neighbors and shops -- but if you don't keep up those shipments or you don't talk to the villagers enough, their shops close and they move away. And in cutscenes that include weeping and moody piano music, no less!

Why is the town always dependent on ME as their major economic stimulus and/or chief deity-reviver? The pressure!
