What Gamecube games am I missing out on ?

I copied this list out of my B/S/T thread; so, you might want to research some of these games. (I am also using the term "exclusive" pretty loosely here, but I do not think that any of these games were ported to the PS2...)

Well there's a PS2 port of Symphonia, but it's Japan-only. Anyway...

P.N. 03 is another exclusive from Capcom.

I don't think I've ever heard of this before. Looks pretty good though. Like a better version of Wipeout. Weird that it's published by NEC, and only seems to have a US release.

I bought this due to that NEC label back when Gamestop still carried Gamecube games. Plays like a mediocre version of Wipeout sliding thru tubes instead of just a track, but it has got to be rare.

But how fun is it if I just play by myself? I know the game was built around multiplayer. Is it worth playing if I don't have any one to play with?

Same thing goes for why I have never owned a Super Smash Bros game. I've played them, but never owned any. I never have any one to play with, fighting the computer can only be so fun.


To the suggestions by everyone, I'm looking into all of them. I don't want any one to think I skipped over them. Expect follow up questions!

You know, it's not as fun ... but it's still really fun. Also, if you only have one GBA and link cable ... you can play it with two people, Player 1 can play on a controller. You just end up controlling all the Links. It removed the aspect of cooperation and even vs play ... but it doesn't really destroy the game or anything.

Smash Bros. Melee is awesome ... even by yourself. There's so many challenges in that game they're really a blast. (There's actually challenge stages with specifically designed scenarios) It's the only one to have them. The Adventure mode is also a lot of fun ... way better than the one in Brawl. It's, overall, the best Smash Bros. without question. (We'll see if that needs re-evaluating next year)

And Battalion Wars and Chibi Robo are both a blast.

1080 Avalanche is my favorite snowboard game. It got average reviews, but I thought it was amazing.

Great tracks with plenty of exploration. All the boards and racers are well-made and the whole design is pretty well thought-out. More of a racer than anything else. I wouldn't call it "realistic," because it was completely over-the-top, but as a real snowboarder I can say it felt right. No 30 second backflip sessions, tricks are really risky. Soundtrack isn't horrible either. Campaign is short but very enjoyable.

Lastly, Ikaruga is an amazing shmup - snag that if you can.

I was so ready to say this, but the RPG guy beat me to it.

However, Chaos Field is a North American exclusive to the Gamecube, and is mainly a shmup full of bosses but has some really nice graphics too.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I'm not too big on shmups.

Get Twilight Princess, 4 Swords Adventures, the LOZ Collector's Edition, and the Ocarina of Time plus Master Quest games. Oh and yes to Eternal Darkness too. I had that in high school, but like most people, I traded it in for cash at Gamestop (along with Gauntlet Dark Legacy, which while awesome on the 'Cube, is also on other platforms). I wish I never got rid of it because it was (and still is) different than most video games I had played at that time.

Soul Calibur II, while multiplatform, has an extra character exclusive to each console version. Gamecube version has Link. I too am also thinking about getting Wave Race Blue Storm, mostly because it's cheap.

I'll also echo the sentiment of a few others for Super Smash Bros Melee. I have mostly played that game by myself (seriously, I've put 41 hours in the single player modes alone and I still enjoy it, because there's a lot more to do for single player than in the original Smash Bros for N64. In fact, just mentioning it made me do a quick battle on vs mode against 3 computer opponents, and that turned into about 30 minutes of play time.

Chaos Field isn't actually exclusive, it's also on Wii in North America (It's part of the Ultimate Shooting Collection, includes Chaos Field, Karous, and Radio Allergy ... it's about $2 if you can find it at GameStop) and Ikaruga has a significantly cheaper version on Xbox Live, if that's your thing.

Billy Hatcher may be up your alley
Both the REmake and RE0 are very good (don't bother with the Wii versions)

I can get on board 4 swords Adventures, but Twilight Princess would be pointless if he's played the Wii version, LoZ Collector's would be outright redundant unless he has none of the games on it (which I doubt). That just leaves Master Quest, which is only worth it if 1. He really loves OOT and 2. He doesn't have the 3DS version.
