The internet is going wild because an "insider" said Microsoft is going to do a full 180 on its DRM policies.

IF they drop the DRM and retain the fabled cloud computing they could become serious contenders indeed (to those unfavourable towards their current strategy)

While it's great that the DRM may get dropped, the damage to the Xbox brand has been already been done.

I'm sure more people will get the system now, but they won't forget.

Too late.

I wish Xbox would go away forever at this point. I mean it's a little ignorant to say considering I was mostly 360 this gen, but I've never really cared for Xbox itself as I have Sega, Nintendo, and Sony stuff growing up and to this day.

Welp, looks like they're backpedaling on most of the DRM stuff. You'll need to authenticate online once when you get the system, but no more connections are required after that. Freely trading used games is back too.

Nice to see they actually listened, but I wonder if its too late and the damage has already been done?

EDIT: Beaten, kinda. Guess this makes it official.

Still doesn't say anything about Kinect, though.

My interest in this console has been upgraded from "fuck this shit" back to "pure indifference"

That's nice microsoft, you actually listened to the clients. You are a little bit more human now.

I stil believe this will be like a trojan horse, people will put their guards down and in 1 or 2 years BAM! new update of the system! DRM for every body!
