The PS4 thread
Re: The PS4 thread
I agree, they go overboard and then charge the hell out of people. Dumb salaries in sports, sent me to the locker room - as in, no more expensive football games. Oh well, not gonna spend 50 bucks a ticket to sit there and watch the team lose, year after year. Bet you cannot guess where I am close to and its not Detroit LOL.

Exactly. Stop betting the entire farm every time. When a game can sell 500000 copies and still be a failure, you're doing it wrong.

I read an article that touched on this mindset just recently and it caught me off guard.
The example it gave was the new Tomb Raider re-make and it said (at the time) that the game had sold around a million copies in about a week or so (pretty sure that included pre-orders). I sat there thinking, "Wow. That's pretty good." only to stare in wonder when it went on to say that Square Enix was saying it wasn't selling as well as expected.
I can't find the exact article, but here's a similar one. It's kind of sad that 3.4 million copies in a month is below expectation.

what does he even do now? He left (was probably fired from) Epic. Now what?

Are you in Minnesota too? If not you keep quiet at least whoever your talking about isn't getting a new stadium. The only good thing is I'm going to quit smoking, not for my health but I want as little of my money as possible to go towards another stadium we don't need.
Yes I'm mad.

Re: The PS4 thread
This guy talks nonsense just like other people from Epic Games and other huge budget publishers.
To be frank ... eliminating used games would only drive sales down unless you also lowered the sticker price ... which they're not. Assuming that people would buy a new copy if a used one wasn't available (sort of like the piracy argument) is absolute bullshit.
Rental games
As far as I've seen
Yet ... when something doesn't "perform" the developer takes the axe ...
I think this bothers me the most ... because it gets gamers who have no benefit in touting this sort of bullshit spreading it like gospel.
If used games are actually reducing the game market (and I haven't seen any actual reputable data saying it does ... it's all given as anecdotal based on short sighted theory) then the game market needs to change. Because otherwise it will crash. You can't twist the arm of every consumer ... they'll just give up buying games. Publishers and developers need consumers more than consumers need them.
In some situations you could loose some franchises that people genuinely care about ... but frankly, if this kind of reckless business is becoming the norm, why would you remotely condone it ... it's just creating a AAA bubble ... and all bubbles pop. They always do. They always will. It's just a matter of time. And until people stop abusing them ... we will not be able to grow the medium in a way that is sustainable.
This kind of garbage really pisses me off. We've seen it for decades in various kinds of markets, and it's a repeating pattern ... and people still listen to it. Absolutely infuriating.

We discussed this before , and to me it makes no sense that a big budget game like GTA 4 or Skyrim would have same retail price as a game like Zack and Wiki and Wario Ware . I think each should be priced at its assumed value by the publisher and the consumer will vote with their money if the prices stays high or goes down.
The same tactic is used with movies in theaters , something like Iron Man 3 ticket price is just as much as some unknown indie film . This has something to do with economics but I am not sure what .
I am not saying games should cost anywhere form $10 -> $150 but I think a max of $60 and then it works down from there. If there is some super great game that just has expansion packs in the future and online multiplayer I do not mind a $80 new price tag.
This is why I like digital downloads, games tend to be priced differently . Many has high value and low price Resident evil is probably anywhere from $5 to $10 but it is just as much fun as when it was released .

At least Minnesota has seen a Super Bowl. Try Cleveland, and yes they got a new stadium a few years back. Truthfully, the "BROWNS" have won two super bowls, just for another city. Hey but look at it this way, the owner is gonna go to jail LOL !!!
