I think all of my friend's 360's RRODed except for one which was hardly used , I am not sure if it RRODed later on.

The PS4 $400 launch price seems very tempting , the ps3 have been around for about 7 years(by ps4 launch) and it still costs $300 . Then again , when you think about it , the new ps4 does not really bring anything NEW to consumers its just upgraded hardware in a time people are still impressed by last gen graphics (Last of Us) , so not sure about that graphical jump there.

Main reasons I wont be so eager to order a ps4:
1) Possible hardware failures , this almost always happens with new products
2) Lack of games(small amount)
3) Full price tag games
4) Online store probably wont be running 100%

There is also the choice of getting a PC with steam, but that would cost much more than a ps4.

I would rather get a ps3 that will cost less , has a huge game library with competitive prices ($10->$20) and PSN has all the good games. You can get 1 PS4 game for $60 or probably 6 PS3 games for $60 .

Any one knows if downloadable content like Movies and shows will work outside US?

Even though I am buying the system at launch, I don't really see any MUST HAVE day 1 games for me. But oh well. Games will come.

I'm tempted to buy BF 4 just to compare it to the PC version.. Killzone should be decent as well.. Looking forward to KH 3, FF XV and FF XIV RR obviously..

Sure, I could believe that...but it would be easier if it weren't from a guy who had spent the last seven years creating some of Microsoft's biggest hits with the Gears of War series.

If Sony and Nintendo follow then it is time for me to work on my backlog. You know what I see going on, crap games being put out for us to buy and then they lose money and this is there way of ensuring profit on it. I am looking right at you Walking Dead Survivor. What a piece of crap. I would have been out 50 bucks if I had not been able to resell that complete piece of shit.

When is the last time you were able to take a game back because it played like shit or was full of bugs? Anyone ever tried to load Skyrim on a PS3 after about 2-30 hours of playtime in it? I must have missed the refund on that broken game.

USA = maximize profit on fewest items sold (screw the under privileged, young, or anyone under paid.) (Microsoft)

Japan = at least those without the money top buy overpriced items can wait and buy it used or even god forbid borrow it from your friend who has the money and is a generous guy. (Sony, Nintendo)

There was a time when you had to pay for years on a TV that broke down all the time. Thanks China, now I can afford one and pay in cash right now - oh yeah and contrary to rumors, mine never broke. I am sorry but this crap comes down to greed and a companies ability to hold us hostage.

You can keep costs down on building a gaming PC, the issue is warranties. If you're OK with single year warranty (or 90 days) on components (like on console) and you have no issue with it not being particularly expandable ... you could build a well performing gaming PC for $300-$400. Chances are you already have the majority of components required.

If you're that concerned about a game being buggy/terrible, why not wait for reviews to come out before making a purchasing decision? Sure, there are outliers like Skyrim where the bug only manifests itself after A LOT of play, but eating the cost of one game now and then isn't terrible.

You are right, for some people eating a bad one is not too hard to take. What about those people that only once or twice a year can afford to splurge on a new release? How is it fair to them when a game turns out to be crap?

Like this scenario:

20 year old moves out on his own, has enough to squeak by and is trying to build a future. Mom and Dad surprise him with an Xbox One as a house warming gift. He sets aside 10 bucks a month to buy a new game, this last 7 months (sales tax and all). He has worked hard for this, so he goes and buys a game. The reviews said it was good, but those are like assholes, we all have opinions. He gets it home, and what do yo know, the controls suck or it is just flat out terrible. Ok, I will trade it in at Gamestop, they take used games regardless of quality. (this is fine, because they sell games regardless of quality). He says, I will just buy a used game and at least I have something to show for my money. Gamestop clerk says: we dont take used games anymore. Great now he has a 60 dollar coaster for his hard work and savings.

All I am saying, Sony gets this, and Microsoft does not. They can give a shit about the marginal person buying a game or two a year. That person cannot afford to waste that money.

How many other tangible things can we think of that you can buy and not resell. Regardless of what it is I have a hard time thinking of one. Hell, you could resell used dental floss, nobody would likely buy it, but you are free to try.

We should try this, prescriptions don't count, they can be resold, just not legally.
