To be honest I was kind of shocked when I couldn't play Sakura Taisen on my PAL DC (Dreamcast is THE number one push over for playing discs it shouldn't) so I tried loading up Utopia Boot Disc. It loaded, got to the screen where it showed the Sakura Taisen disc in the background with a transparent reindeer in front of it, but then it took me back to the DC start up page. I tried again but the process just repeats.
It's an official Japanese copy of the game. Can anyone help?
The boot disc version is 1.1.

I had the same problem with House Of The Dead 2. Was trying to play my original import on a USA console using the Utopia disc and no go!

Re: Utopia Boot Disc rejecting my Japanese game?
Ever heard of google? It's bound to inform you that the Utopia boot disc was made to do NOTHING more than boot the earliest bin/cue pirated releases. It was what we used before the selfboot methods were discovered. I don't know why you two just assumed that it was for booting imports. That's not what it was made for.

Well I own about 200 imports and only had a issue with house of the dead 2. So yeah it boots imports!
I prefer my modded DC though.
Re: Utopia Boot Disc rejecting my Japanese game?
The success rate isn't nearly that high, but whatever. Like I said, it wasn't made to do that. I didn't say that it doesn't boot them. A disc like DC-X however was made to boot imports.Japhei wrote:Mozgus wrote:Ever heard of google? I don't know if it will work with pal but I use the DC-X boot disc and have had great luck with it.
