A few months ago, I picked up a Gamecube lot with a Madcatz wireless controller. The battery contacts in the controller were severely corroded and the controller initially didn't work. After multiple cleanings, I got all the corrosion off and got it working. The controller still has problems, most likely due to the rust damaged battery contacts. The controller will only work with certain brands of AAA batteries and occasionally the controller will power down.
This morning at a flea market, I found a Gamestop re-branded Madcatz GC wireless controller sans receiver. Aside from a different color scheme it's the same model. Unfortunately, the madcatz receiver I already have doesn't seem to recognize it. Is there some wireless reset button sequence on these controllers to pair it to a receiver? I initially figured the receiver would communicate with the first available madcatz controller in range. Another possibility is this controller itself has a wireless issue.

Lightly sand the contacts on the original. Not sure on repairing otherwise.

I took apart the first Madcatz controller when I was cleaning the contacts. The battery terminal is held to the main controller shell by screws and two wires soldered to the pcb. If I can't get the Gamestop rebrand to work, I could just take both apart and do a transplant of the battery terminal.
