I think the Bios required update patch is the biggest concern, what "rules" are set today can have easily be modified tomorrow. This could be good or really bad for one who has invested heavily in a given system.

Hopefully the Kotaku article will get a lot of hits, especially from Microsoft. Based on the track record of existing DRM DLC games on consoles and the limits of support, I won't hold my breath from their response in that article. They have to give a right answer even if not 100 percent positive what will happen later just to reassure the public.

I am reflecting my concern based on the PS2 which can no longer download patches for Action Replay since the Sony server is down. Fortunately I kept the latest backed up on a few memory cards. The same issue with Original Xbox for DLC maps which cannot be backed up and no longer available. Not sure if the Gamecube had any of the older DLC.

How are WiiU owners faring, any issues if leaving the console offline for say a month? Do all games including purchased DRM still work long term without an online connection? Not talking about online game play of course, just a verify that the games will always run offline.

I think it's time to put that tinfoil cap to rest good buddy.

WiiU is no different to a PS3 or 360 with one BIG difference, absolutely NO network codes. You may need a code for AC3 for online play on 360 and PS3 (I don't know but previous titles have required that) you DO NOT need one for WiiU. The system doesn't even support that kind of lock. For the rest of the DRM, it works exactly the same, one disc can work with unlimited consoles. It's the basic copy protection that has been around FOR DECADES.

Cloud saves as a form of DRM, are you on crack? How, what? Why? Huh? Cloud saves are just a convenience. Nothing stopping you from copying your saves to a memory stick, same as with the 360 (after the update) and PS3 (out of the box) or indeed, disabling it entirely. This works exactly the same on WiiU, however it does not support cloud saves as of yet, oh yeah and there's some sort of console lock that stops you from sharing your saves. I assume to stop people cheating online etc.

I understand where you're coming from, we all have concerns (or at least I hope we all do) pertaining to our rights in the ownership of content. However, you're making a lot of assumptions based on anecdotal evidence or completely irrelevant 'evidence'.

Reading his statement, I don't think he's so much in favor of the Xbox One as resigned to see its inevitable rise.

"I honestly don’t know what Microsoft’s plans or vision for Xbox One in Japan is going to be," he explained. "We really haven’t received immense support for Xbox One in Japan as of yet, so I don’t know what their plans are. Whatever everyone else knows right now is what we know.

"That being said, Windows and a lot other Microsoft products have a track record of being successful in Japan, so I think it’s matter of time or some kind of hook that will let the Xbox explode or shine in Japan. But what or when that is, is still kind of up in the air."

He's judging based on Microsoft's track record in realms beyond video games. In terms of their consoles, they've never been that successful in Japan, but overall their track record for things like operating systems, tablets, or other tech isn't bad in the NTSC-J region.

I prefer Microsoft before they were making console games. Or better yet, when Bill Gates was still in charge.

Where are you getting that? All I saw was that they are done with preorders.

What I heard is that they sold all the consoles they were allocated for pre-orders.

Please let that be true. This thing has to fail, it just has to. I am sorry but I personally believe this will be the end of Video Games as we know it. They are doing their best to destroy the industry.

Funny thing, when I sell a game I tend to buy another, sometimes even a new game. I must be the only one who does this. So isn't Microsoft benefiting from me selling my used game to buy another new game? Sometimes I buy used games, but sometimes I buy new games. Is this not better than "I just dont buy Xbox games"? So the money I get from selling my games just goes right back to them anyway. As for the guy who buys only used, well they were not gonna make any money off of him anyway, so let us just shut him completely out.

SCREW YOU MICROSOFT   :x BASTARDS, GREEDY BASTARDS

Oddly though, didnt they try this same crap with internet explorer by integrating it into windows. I believe they were even sued because people were unable to remove it from windows. I am old though, memory may be wrong.
