Olympus has Fallen, had an afternoon to kill so I went to the second run theater.

I enjoyed the AC-130 throughly and I always love when they go with a good knife stabbing to break up the rat-a-tat-tat.

When asked about that in an interview, Avi Arad said "Guess what? You missed one. It's all there in the comics. The father, the mutated baby, all of it." Just sayin'.

The abusive father yes. An obsessed father turned super-villain, no. But that's not what I'm talking about, anyways. The father wasn't a big deal for me. I'm talking the actual origin wasn't the same at all. No bomb. It's one of those origins that ALL comic fans know, like Clark Kent being rocketed from Krypton.

And the mutated baby was in comic origin? ...where?

But like I said, it was a good movie. I enjoyed it. It just didn't feel like the Hulk we all know.

Those 3 you listed as the best 3 Marvel films, are my picks too. Have I ever agreed with you on anything before this?

So I just watched The Ice Pirates. It's not a good film...but it was certainly enjoyable, with a cast that understood the type of film they were in and acted accordingly. Sure, the plot makes no sense, the story is rushed, and the special effects are wanting, but it's still fun! It also stars the likes of Robert Ulrich, Ron Perlman, Anjelica Huston, John Matuszak (the guy who played Sloth in The Goonies!), and a bunch of other folks. I laughed, I groaned, I shook my head in dismay.

I am in complete agreement. As I have said many times before, however, I have not yet seen The Avengers....(Come on, Netflix! Get it up for streaming!)

In the Fog

Faced with impossible situations, some people buckle under the pressure and others stick to their true character, and get shortchanged all the same. War doesn't change people; it only shows them at their best or worst.

Man Of Steel

Wow. Just wow. I'll be very interested to hear what comic book purists think of this one. As far as what the comics have been in recent decades, it's not even remotely like the comics. However, I thought it was absolutely true to Siegel and Shuster's original vision of the character back in 1938. He's not omnipotent, he's not all-powerful and he's not immediately trusted by all. He's more human in this film than he's ever been. One of my favorite bits in the entire movie is when he first emerges from the ship and before he figures out how to fly, he starts by leaping and my immediate thought was "able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!". I honestly wonder if anyone else in the audience caught that reference. I saw it in 3D and it was AMAZING. If you have the option, that's the way to see it, no question. I doubt this will ever unseat the Richard Donner film as the definitive version, and it probably shouldn't, but as a different take on the material (and it is very different), I was seriously impressed.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.
