OK, I'll check it out. Anyone played the PSP Ace Combat games? I really like that series. The 3DS game was a nice surprise so maybe I'll like this one?

I ordered a Vita today, and will be getting $50 back on amazon.com. So i should break even on the "rumored" price drop in a week or so.

But as far as the PSP goes. I still love the thing. Games are cheap as heck. I beat a few Psone classics with it (just beat syphon filter, 2 days ago). Im sure i wouldn't have accuatly beaten some of them with the PS3. No shame in owning a PSP. I will probably still play games on it with my Vita.

Everything is super easy to mod now, including 3000s and PSPGo. You have to run a quick recovery every time you completely shut off the PSP, but otherwise run it once and play.

Oh, cool. Wasn't terribly concerned with homebrew as I have other means for emulation but this'll come in handy for fan translations! =D

PSN Plus often has great deals on PSP an PSV games.

There's at least a hundred PSP games worth owning. I'll just share what's excellent and in my collection, but there are dozens more I could recommend to you. Not sure if all of these are exclusives. Check out the games that have been released recently. Most are good.

God Of War: Chains of Olympus
God of War: Ghost of Sparta
Outrun 2006
Ridge Racer (go for Ridge Racer 2)
Jeanne D'Arc
Guilty Gear series (Judgement, Accent Core....)
Star Ocean: First Departure
Star Ocean: Second Evolution
Yggdra Union
Knights in the Nightmare
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max
Dissidia (get the sequel)
Every Extend Extra
Lumines
Crisis Core
Final Fantasy Tactics: War Of the Lions
LocoRoco
Sega Rally Revo
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (Favorite game!!!)
Half-Minute Hero
The 3rd Birthday
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd and EXTEND
Tactics Ogre
Wipeout
Hot Shots Tennis
Harvey Birdman
Valkyria Chronicles II
Mega Man Powered Up
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny
Patchwork Heroes

Ace Combat - I've played ACX, but not Joint Assault. ACX is a cool game. It's not as good as AC04 or AC5, but still enjoyable. There are some really cool enemies! The main problem in this game is the controls. I always felt limited compared to the PS2 games because complex maneuvers get really awkward. Changing the control scheme can help, but you just won't be able to fly your plane as well as you want to.

Thanks for the list! Some of those I've never heard of, I'll be sure to look them up.

As far as the controls for Ace Combat, I can't imagine they're much different from the 3DS game so I'll be fine. Just wanted to known if the game was interesting enough.

Well, after hearing what Sony had to say about the Vita, I'm definitely skipping over that for now. Looks like I'll be getting a PSP sometime this summer while the games are still cheap!

I'll be getting either a 3DS or a Vita on Black Friday this year. I'm not sure which, though. PSV has a lot of games I'm interested in, but 3DS has Fire Emblem and my friends will have the system. The deciding factor may be the new Smash Bros.

Fire Emblem is indeed the best game I've played on the 3DS.

Now I've got a couple PSP games I'd like some opinions on, if anybody could help me.

1. Metal Slug XX
We all know Metal Slug itself is awesome, but how is this game? How does it compare to MS7 on the DS?

2. Growlanser
It has ATLUS on the front cover which grabs my attention. Impressions of this game?

3. Breath of Fire III
Apparently there's only a PAL version. Does it offer any significant advantages over the PSX version other than widescreen? Also, which is better BoFIII or BoFIV?

4. Half Minute Hero
The game looks and sounds...unique to say the least. Is it actually worthwhile and satisfying though?

5. Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins
Is there a significant enough difference between earlier games or is this more or less a remake of some kind?

Bonus question!
Any good 2D platformers I'm overlooking?
