The PS4 thread
Re: The PS4 thread
Why wait when I can get one at launch and make a few hundred?

Not to mention that Sony launch consoles are notorious for failing and always have more efficient follow up redesigns.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Are people seriously incapable of waiting a few months until a console is readily available to the general public? I don't get it...
Re: The PS4 thread
I have had many Sony launch systems, never had one fail one me. Now Xbox 360 is way different. Had two of them go bad...... Just another reason to avoid them like the plague.brunoafh wrote:Not to mention that Sony launch consoles are notorious for failing and always have more efficient follow up redesigns.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Are people seriously incapable of waiting a few months until a console is readily available to the general public? My first PS1, PS2, and PS3 never failed. Though I have to admit that I always upgrade to newer revisions.wclem wrote:I have had many Sony launch systems, never had one fail one me. Funny part is a bought all of those used too. So they already had mileage on them.

Re: The PS4 thread
Note that I'm talking about the first run launch models, not just Sony hardware in general. Sony had a good rep with hardware overall.
Anyway, I bought both a PS2 and PS3 on day one. Both failed in about 3-4 years. The 60GB PS3 almost exactly 3 years in, the PS2 closer to 4. They endured hours and hours of usage, but still. Under 5 years is not cool with me, and they were very well taken care of.
Sony sent me a replacement 60GB PS3 for $150 (likely a refurb) that started showing the same failure signs in about a year. I did a hefty amount of research on the topic and found that I was far from alone in having them fail. I didn't get very worked up or look into the PS2 failure, because I didn't lose data so I didn't get that pissed. When the PS3 went though, I lost all my data. It was very frustrating (I know I should have backed it up, but I didn't think the console would die in just a few years), not my fault, and the only compensation I received was a $150 refurb that also began failing.
Not to come off as anti-Sony or something, because if anything I am a very long time supporter. But after repeated launch console failures I am definitely wary and will not buy on launch again.

Re: The PS4 thread
Looks like Amazon just got more PS4 stock. I just got an email that my Standard Edition preorder through Amazon got upgraded to a Launch Edition.
