House of the Dead Overkill is a pretty excellent zombie game.

And Typing of the Dead.

It's a good thing the creatures in this game aren't zombies then ...

(They're people infected with a fungus that turn into something more reminiscent of a Pirates of the Caribbean villain than a Romero zombie)

Speaking for myself, I feel like every other month some game comes out that gets rave reviews. If you look at graffix_13's first post in this thread, it applies to so many games this gen that the numbers don't really mean anything anymore

I'm curious about the game, just because what I've seen of it looks a bit more thoughtful and strategic than the mindless, rollercoaster ride, blast a thon that the Uncharted games, and 90% of the games on the market today are. I'm not the biggest Naughty Dog fan but I've got my eye on this one.

Would have been nice had they offered the flight-rather-than-fight approach as well. There have been a few games where the protagonist is too weak to actually confront the enemies in the game. Also, if you apply basic statistics the more opponents you face off with in a post-apocalyptic setting the less feasible it is that you survive at all.

Oh and the game got endorsed with flying colours from one of the world's most notorious scaremongering tabloids. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ ... s-PS3.html

What's not to love, again? :P

I am 99.9% positive I'm getting it for Father's Day.

I won't start playing it for awhile though. I still have to get through FF7 and Super Metroid first. I am the type of guy who will only play no more than 2 games at the same time.

Same here got my notice from Amazon yesterday. I'm planning on playing it tomorrow night, late into the night. I just hope I can get Bioshock buttoned up first. I'm making a run at finishing that tonight, but I'm not sure how much I have left.

Anybody get a chance to play this yet? Is it great?

I've read about some auto-saving issues. But playing it offline seems to be immune to them.
