Any Syphon Filter or Driver Fans?

Post by racketboy »

Thought these two franchises should be added to the Defined PS1 article (scheduled to be published next week)
Anybody up for writing these entries?

I loved the first SF. Never really got into the others. And I've never even beaten the tutorial in Driver (or maybe that was driver 2.) It seemed literally impossible to perform this one maneuver on the list.

If it was in a car garage, it would have been number 1. I don't beleave driver 2 had any tutorials.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Ok that was it. The car handled like...over-realistically. They took the difficulties of real life driving, and exaggerated them by 5x.

I adored the physics in that game. I found the driving a little arcade like. But that's just me.

Me too. Is the rest of the game good enough to give this another crack? Is there some trick to getting out of the garage?

Now I'm intrigued. What is this garage, and what makes it so impossible to escape?

I got it on my second attempt. Not gloating or nothing... but I do fucking rock

Edit: The thing you have to keep in mind about player Driver (1 or 2) is that you should not steer with the analogue stick. The d-pad gives sharper snappier controll. This is not a game about precision steering and the d-pad allows quick lock to lock steering (when used in conjuction with L1 I beleave)

The garage was the first level of the game, and to prove your worth as a driver to the criminal gangs you are trying to get in with you have to perform all manner of tricks, a 360, a reverse 180, emergency stop, a fast lap and so on. It was enfuriatingly tough and unlikey JSR, there is no option to just carry on with the game.

I havnt played it or years, but I remember enjoying the game quite a bit when I had it a few years ago.
