I'm not sure why people are flipping out over that new Xeno game. From my understanding, Xenoblade was inferior to FF XII and this new game (from the trailer at least) looks like more of the same (visually) but with Gundam robots.
It looks pretty though.
Wii-U thoughts so far
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'll have to watch the trailer. But it SOUNDS interesting. however, I have yet to play a game from Monolith that I have REALLY enjoyed. Xenoblade didn't do much for me. Project x Zone demo made me cancel my pre-order. Never finished Xenosaga..

As someone who LOVED FF XII ( http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 11&t=43121 ) I have to disagree. Xenoblade was FF XII done better in my opinion. (all it lacked was the ultra sexy lead that XII had with Balthier, but you can't have it all I guess).Opa Opa wrote:I'm not sure why people are flipping out over that new Xeno game. I like this game cause it looks very open ended. FF XII tried to do it, but it seems it was held back from the PS2 hardware limitations. The Wii was like 3-4 times stronger than it, and the Wii U much stronger, so you end up with a game of true grand scale.

I played FFXII to the extent of killing Yiazmat, and I would also agree that Xenoblade was a better experience. It felt similar, so I can see why they get compared, but I think Xenoblade did just about everything better.

Xenoblade was a lot more well received than FF12 was if that's what you're referring too.Opa Opa wrote:I'm not sure why people are flipping out over that new Xeno game. The new Xeno game looks really good graphically, it's hard not to get a little optimistic when a game literally looks that good.
With that being said, I'm not huge on Xenoblade (though I am not very far into it). It's a good game, but not really a must. But this new one could be cool if the gameplay is different, which I think it probably will be.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I finally got to play it the other day at a demo booth. I was not impressed. I don't like the controller and the hardware is laughable. It uses a R7 custom graphics card, which means it is equal to an HD Radeon 4600 series. This card was made back in 2008. That is really sad, my PC is more powerful than the Wii U and I haven't even upgraded in 4 years. If it wasn't for Nintendo's first party games, I wouldn't even bother. I may get one but I don't see myself getting one until I see a price drop.

Xenoblade is a way better all around game than FFXII for sure.
Now for my thoughts on the Direct.
Why did they not show some of the other 3DS games?
Super Mario 3D World looks quite fun, even if it's not revolutionary in any way. Like the homage to SMB2 though. I think they went this direction primarily for the fact that 3D Land has outsold both Galaxy games. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
Mario Kart 8 is quite the surprise as it looks pretty amazing actually.
Wind Waker looks great, and as someone who hasn't played it before, I can't wait!
Both of Platinum's games look fantastic and will be day one purchasers from me.
Donkey Kong Country....
Might be the key disappointment to me. I loved DKCR and I'll probably love this one as well. I just would've preferred it if RETRO was allowed to make something on their own or at least revive an older franchise. I think Nintendo is chasing sales numbers with this one too.
Smash Bros, really liking what I'm seeing here. It's great to have Mega Man in the spotlight again too. Can't wait to constantly check Sakurai's posts on Miiverse about the game's development and character reveals. I lol'ed at the WiiFit Trainer video.
X: Might just be my favorite game I've seen even the slightest glimpse of at E3. It's either this or MGS5, both looks amazing.
No updates on Yarn Yoshi and SMT x FE either, bummer.
3rd party support seems awful. Much worse than initially feared. I was personally hoping for another surprise collaboration/exclusive but it wasn't to be.
I'd say overall that Sony "won" E3, especially to the mainstream audience. Nintendo did bring a lot of games that capture my interest, whereas MGS5 might be the only "next-gen" game to do the same.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Anybody else heading to one of the Best Buy events today for Luigi swag and E3 demos?
Older. Not wiser.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I would consider doing it if I didn't live so far away from them. Oh well.
