Because ... it broke something inside.

Not being a dick ... but they're not software devices, it's got to be a component or unit problem. It's not the tube, because you can see ... it could be the coils or a single component on the board or even the power supply.

Unless you want to open the thing up and repair it (extremely dangerous if you don't know what you're doing! The amount of current stored in a CRT tube is magnificently more than enough to kill you) you'll likely have to replace it.

Someone else here might have some better ideas on how you can get this set working, though.

I'm assuming the "blinking" you're referring to is on the power LED? That should be blinking in a specific pattern which may clue you in to what's going on. It's an error code.

Are you good at soldiering? You might have to replace a pair of ICs on the board.

Perhaps plugging the TV back in put the MCZ3001D chips over the limit. They have a reputation of failing. If this is the case, an inexpensive meticulous fix.

The electrical shock risk is not a big deal as long as you know what not to touch.

If you have a repair guide ... it should be all good. It should tell you exactly how to fix anything and how to do it safely.

I was just warning because it sounds like you aren't familiar with the internals of a television. Worst thing would be you getting curious with your hands when you pop it open because you just didn't know.

And if it's an LED issue, then this is probably something simpler than I was thinking.

Those later Sony TVs discharge themselves after about an hour or so anyway, so you'd probably be fine.

There's guides on discharging it yourself if you want to be extra careful.

So this high voltage. I have also been told in heavy discussion by TV repair men that since it's all voltage and no current that it can not kill you. Just shock and startle the hell out of ya. Does any one know some one that has died from HV in a TV really?

It's not voltage that kills you, it's amperage.
