I definitely recommend playing those MSX games by the way. They're pretty great and worthwhile. Metal Gear 2 especially, as it playing it makes the original Metal Gear Solid an even better experience.

I played some of Metal Gear 2 at a friends house and it's really fun, might even like it more than the 3d ones.

Metal Gear 2 is a very good game and it can't be played outside of very specific releases so I would consider playing it if you are a fan of the series.

Let's just say that if someone told me "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is the best game in the Metal Gear series" I wouldn't argue.
Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 Confirmed
Anytime I hear Metal Gear, I think NES.
When I hear Metal Gear 2, I don't know if someone is talking about Snake's Revenge or the non-US released sequel (usually neither).
And I had to google MSX.
But an HD version of the original Metal Gear Solid does exist, correct?
Sorry again for the derail, but if I'm going to drop coin I want to know what I'm purchasing.

The MSX was a popular Japanese home computer (think something like the Commodore) and was the original platform that Metal Gear came out on. The NES game is loosely speaking a port, but it changes a lot of stuff, almost all for the worse. If you played the NES version a lot, the MSX one will feel familiar. It's just a better built game.Luke wrote:Anytime I hear Metal Gear, I think NES.

The NES version was popular, so Konami made a sequel exclusively for the US audience called Snake's Revenge. Kojima found out about this, and decided that if people wanted a sequel, then dammit he'd give them a sequel, so he made Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX, and it was awesome. It originally only came out in Japan, and the version of it on MGS3: Subsistence is the only official US release of the game. It has absolutely nothing to do with Snake's Revenge at all outside of being the catalyst for why it was made.
Unfortuantely, no. You'll have to either go with the Ps1 classics download, an actual Ps1 disc, or I guess the Gamecube remake.Luke wrote: But an HD version of the original Metal Gear Solid does exist, correct?

On Twitter or somesuch, but was rectified promptly. Anyway it confused me for a while.AppleQueso wrote:What hubub? Microsoft just showed the game, never claimed it was exclusive.Pulsar_t wrote:Is this coming to current consoles? So what was all that false hubbub about it being an Xbone exclusive?
