PS4 to me sounds like all good news except for the PS+ requirement. What the F, seriously.

I don't mind that the system doesn't come bundled with PS4Eye ... that's actually nice, shows it isn't mandatory. The peripheral is also priced at $59 according to Sony, which is the same price as the DS4. Which isn't too bad.

The design of the system is a little odd. But, once again, I think this is some Sony hardware that'll look just fantastic in ceramic white ... and again the united states will never see it!

I was REALLY surprised by Destiny ... I really don't like Halo. But this looks really cool. It's like Resistance 3 and Star Wars double teamed Borderlands. From what I've seen and played form the Halo games, this doesn't look remotely similar aesthetically. It's EXTREMELY reminiscent of Star Wars, though. The ships all sound like SW ships. They even have speeder bikes. I also thought it was interesting that the drop ships look like Skynet's scouts.

Division looks really interesting. The graphical fidelity is top notch, so that's nice. It was a live demo. The videos show the guy controlling it.

The Crew looks really interesting ... but I'm gonna have to see more.

Titan Fall ... looks really bland. I've played Section 8 and Brink and it looks like those combined ... and that's OK. I'll probably check it out when it comes out ... but I don't see myself really being into it.

KI3? Cool! $500? No.

I'm like plenty of other people, and am quite pleased with the Sony conference. They just went down the list making sure to just do the opposite of Microsoft, and now it's such a clear choice what system I'm interested in next gen. It's an absolute no brainer for me to get a PS4.

Now I just want to see what other games are in development for it. There are still plenty of days left for the show, so I'm hoping for a few surprises. =)

Just got finished catching up. My thoughts?

Microsoft:
They did a great job stepping around the issues and concerns that have exploded on the internet. They did this by NON-STOP SHOVING GAMES IN OUR FACES. Exactly what we were looking for. This was a great play on their part, and temporarily had us forget about the crappy DRM that comes with these games. I think that after the dust has settled though, we still all feel uneasy about their silence about the system it's self, especially after all the backlash it's gotten on the Internet. This is how Microsoft work though. "Problem? What Problem? Here's some games. Shh..."

Sony:
All this silence from them had us all wondering and second guessing the PS4. This was probably one of the best tactics I've ever seen come from a console manufacturer. Would all these announcements have had as much of an impact on us a few months back as it did last night? I don't think so.
The system is beautiful, but I like sharp looking tech. The price point is nice, and I really don't mind the mandatory PS+ (If it's really mandatory). I would have been really angry a few months back, but after getting a free year's subscription, I'd say it's well worth the $50 a year.

Sony "wins" this battle.

Games:
Excited for Mirror's Edge 2, FFXV, KH3, Watch Dogs, Destiny, Mad Max.

Mirror's Edge: Mixed feelings on this one, but generally excited. I liked the first one so much that I really want to see more of the series.
FFXV: High hopes for this one. Looks like a great development team got put on it, looks gorgeous, and I always get excited over new FF games.
KH3: Don't really like the series, but I'm tired of hearing the fans cry. It's about damn time.
Watch Dogs: I know we've already seen a lot from this game, but I love sandbox games.
Destiny: Despite my distaste for Halo fanboy-ism, I really did like the first couple games (single player). This looks gorgeous, and I trust Bungie to make a good game.
Mad Max: Loved the movies. I'm big into apocalypse films. This got a me a little excited.

KI3? Xbox Exclusive? Rare? No thanks...

Now we have the rest of the week ahead of us. I can't wait to see more gameplay and to see what Nintendo is bringing to the table. It probably won't be munch, but as long as it's more in-game footage of their IPs, I'll be happy.

PS4 is confirmed region free and that makes me very happy. Already pre-ordered via Amazon.

Here is the thing. Sony is making a lot of right moves, but the launch of this system is still going to be a very strange and uncomfortable world. Remember earlier that they said that they will leave the DRM used game purchasing up to the publishers? That still stands. In the conference they stated that there is no IMPOSED used game DRM BY sony. That doesn't mean that EA or Activision or Ubisoft won't still make that a requirement.

What Sony did that was smart on that front is throw the blame onto the publishers and not themselves. As with Playstation Plus needed for online play with PS4, that is not a big deal. The benefits of the program far outweigh the cost. Getting great games to be able to play for free (even though it is essentially a long term rental) and the fact that the program will be cross platform is a plus.

I'm overall happy with what Sony did. They showed some pretty cool games and they did something I haven't really seen yet, fire up the crowd. It shows that the media does not want what Microsoft is selling. How will they respond when they buy the PS4 and still have to pay for a fee to activate a used game? We will see.

From what I got, PS+ is only required if you want to play multiplayer online. Assuming this is correct, I am completely okay with that. It's not being able to access other services I already pay for on XBL, along with not being able to play demos and such (no longer a potential buyer for said game?...), that really bug me the most. They seemed to make it clear all your other services and features on PSN will be free access as they should be. If this is correct then that's great.

I hope and wonder what they'll do with the PSN classics line as well. I wonder if they'll just transfer the available lineup and then keep adding more to both consoles. I'm still not bothered by the lack of backwards compatibility either. The PS3 will be a fine system to keep hooked up for me. And now considering they focused a lot on the PS3 and Vita for the first chunk of the show, it'll be interesting to see if they continue to support the PS3 for awhile as they did the PS2. MS on the other hand immediately abandoned the oXbox, and I won't be surprised if they do the same with the 360, but who knows.

It was a long gen, but there's still some juice left and I could see some developers sticking with the current ones for awhile and I wouldn't mind that.

So is Amazon the way to go with pre-ordering new consoles? Never done that before, but it's tempting. I assume I'd need to jump on that soon if I'm going to go for it.

Nintendo wasn't at this show I think? Were they still gonna announce some stuff or what?

they are doing their Nintendo Direct showcase at 10 AM EST. It won't be a conference, just another video showing off the game lineup and what is to come from Nintendo. Fingers crossed for something good.

I see. Yeah I hope Nintendo gives us some surprises as well. I know I'll get a Wii U eventually for the first party stuff. There's a lot of potential.
