Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Is this shocking school gossip and happennings day?
A kid was run over and killed while riding his go-kart in my neighborhood when I was in 7th or 8th grade. I wasn't really friends with him, but I rode the bus past his house and where he died every school day. A girl that was otherwise really awesome, nice, and cute died huffing freon when I was in 10th grade. I was actually around when another girl and people were huffing freon too. She stopped breathing a few times and even joked about it. That girl had other drug issues too, I imagine she's long dead by now. One really quiet girl that was in my classes in high school was in Playboy while in college and apparently got a boob job. I'm really not sure why as she was really attractive and didn't seem to be lacking. One friend and one sometimes friend/sometimes enemy both tried committing suicide after high school (unrelated instances). The friend failed and ended up turning his life around. The frienemy was successful. I know 2 people that were within 2 or 3 years of me in school that had sex changes. I first heard about peanut allergies when a girl died while I was at college.

This is not a personality trait that will serve you well in life, and if - as you assert - this is simply an aspect of your personality, then you should work hard to change it as soon as possible.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I'm just a generally negative person, its my personality.
That said, I stand by my recommendation that you go ahead and play Final Fantasy VIII right now. As I mentioned earlier, you will not enjoy it nearly as much once you are no longer an angst-filled teenager.

Man I've got absolutely nothing as far as crazy school occurrences like that go. A friend of mine did some crazy stuff, but he didn't die or anything.

Change it? Just up and completely change my personality because of how it might affect my life? Isn't that the first thing they tell you not to do? Not change who you are?prfsnl_gmr wrote:This is not a personality trait that will serve you well in life, and if - as you assert - this is simply an aspect of your personality, then you should work hard to change it as soon as possible.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I'm just a generally negative person, its my personality.

And I don't have a way or the want to play FFVIII, seeing as I'm not a fan of overly goofy JRPG's.

Wait...you can huff freon? Why didn't anyone tell me, I thought you were supposed to drink it!
<dies>
Yeah...I am with applequeso on this one. Other than a few traffic fatalities, nothing like this happened to anyone in my high school (to my knowledge).
Well, snowflake, I do not know who told you that, but it's terrible advice.

Well, that's why you can't buy it without being a licensed AC technician anymore. Not that most stuff uses real freon these days for envorinmental reasons.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Wait...you can huff freon? Why didn't anyone tell me, I thought you were supposed to drink it!
But yeah, huffing is stupid.

That will get you no where in life unless you are genuinely handsome and want to work for Fox News.Forlorn Drifter wrote: I'm not depressed, I'm just a generally negative person, its my personality.
I don't have the time to be your therapist, but for f--ks sake take the time to take your socks off and walk in the grass. Fly a kite, feed the birds, pet a puppy, tell your family you love them, chew a stick of Juicy Fruit or a wad of Big League Chew, buy an outfit that makes you look good, volunteer at a homeless shelter or be a Big Brother, roll down a big hill, hit the gym, cook yourself a dinner for one, give a friend a wet willy, sleep outside one night, star gaze, dance without caring, create something of your own, fry some bologna, shadow box until your arms feel like noodles, write a short story or start a journal, read "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff", play catch with a friend, learn how to make a kick ass paper plane, rebuild a car or motorcycle, see a movie by yourself....DO SOMETHING that makes you happy duder.
Hell, I'm in my early thirties and I still love turning off the lights and smashing two Quartz rocks together to see the sparks and smell the stink of quartz.
Edit* Not to pat myself on the back, but I think I nailed that post.

People I'm not depressed.
And Luke, I thought of a negative way to respond to everything you said, but I decided not too, as that would be sort of dickish.

Yeah, you've said so like 3 times now.Forlorn Drifter wrote:People I'm not depressed.
That's the whole problem here, man. Zero benefit to resigning yourself to simply having a negative attitude all the time. And Luke, I thought of a negative way to respond to everything you said, but I decided not too, as that would be sort of dickish.
People are trying to be helpful here, you know.
