not sure what you all are complaining about, I just beat the sucker for under $1 Terry Bogart cost me two credits (stupid plane jumping) and Geese cost me another. I'd bet I can 1cc this easily with just a little more practice.
(everyone's playing "beginner mode" on FFBAv1, right?)
Trying to find the PS2 compilation is seeming useless for me, I keep telling myself I want to start getting into Together Retro and I think I might actually start this month, might have to be on the VC due to how hard I am finding a copy in the Wild.
Oh man, beginner difficulty makes Fatal Fury Special a breeze. The only part I found annoying was Geese because he kept jumping back and forth between the planes nonstop, but I still only had to continue once against him.
Now I'm not sure if I want to experiment with other fighters or try a harder difficulty. Or... BOTH? (Part of me thinks I *should* play as Andy next, since he's one of the core-FF guys. But another part of me would rather play as Duck next, since he's completely ridiculous.)
Finished. The "boss" battles were a bit tough and took some time, but I kept it going with quick hits and tons of throws, as well as using the planes to throw off all the bad stuff coming my way. I'll be moving to the SNES port next.

Well, I spent some time over the last week with the SFC, NGCD, and AES versions.
Honestly, the SFC port is rough; missing sound effects, wonky music, and greatly reduced character animations. I can't find my SNES cart of it at the moment, so I can't compare the 2, though I'm quite sure they are probably identical. Wow, I really don't remember this port being so lackluster.
As for the NGCD version; aside from loading times, which are amazingly short, I cannot tell any major difference between it or the AES one. The only big change is the music, which seems to be remixed, or at least enhanced for the NGCD port.
So basically, with how cheap it is on both consoles, it seems negligible as to which one to get. But, with how cheap the FF Battle Archives are, combined with the great quality of those ports, this is easily the best option for those who want the most bang for their buck.
Playing through the SNES port now. It runs a whole lot faster than the original does. Everything seems pretty intact, although the last poster mentioned character animations, honestly I haven't seen too much not there. It also seems to be much easier, even at level 4 difficulty.
