I just graduated high school. Yes, those girls are annoying. I like a good love story, though. Or at least my idea of a good one.
I'm not above watching a slow romance drama. My favorites are crazy shows full of absurdist humor, but I've enjoyed a few normal ones too.

I'm halfway through You Can't Redo, but I can't be bothered with such tropes any longer. I'll just keep watching to see where this leads. Why doesn't Hideaki Anno do something original instead, rather than regurgitating the same tired old story along with its dislikeable protagonists?

Finally got around to watching the last OVA episodes of Tenchi Muyo: Ryo Ohki. Decent, but a little rushed. Too many characters, too many revelations, and clearly some important bits were cut and not animated and included. Also, it is becoming clear that a lot of my more recent annoyance with anime has been having to listen to English dubs on Netflix. Watching something in Japanese changes EVERYTHING for me, somehow.

I cant stand most anime from the 00's to present. Apparently some guys called me a classic. My favorite anime is Ranma 1/2 and the Tenchi series

I'm sure there's plenty of stuff you'd enjoy from the past decade or so. Might take some digging, however.Sasha_Blue wrote:I cant stand most anime from the 00's to present. Apparently some guys called me a classic. My favorite anime is Ranma 1/2 and the Tenchi series
Classic shows are good though. This is a forum built on liking old things after all.

The only current anime from the 00's that I liked were Gungrave and Hellsing. What really turns me off from modern anime is the animation. It looks and feels lazy to me.AppleQueso wrote:I'm sure there's plenty of stuff you'd enjoy from the past decade or so. I like older anime because of the fluent animation which you don't really see in modern anime. I also hated when they blend in cgi with 2d images, it really throws me off. I think the reason I also can't really get into modern anime is because with older anime the drawing styles, the fluent animation, the detailed backgrounds as they flow with the foreground was all done by hand and I consider it a work of craftsmanship rather than just calling it animation.
I also hate modern anime because I wonder, what ever happened to stand alone movies? I remember there were tons of them in the 90's and before that. Now it's all movies connected to some show. There are a hand full of them out there but it is for little compared to 15 years ago.

I just started watching Attack on Titan. So far, the anime can be described as depressing and frightening. Plus, the antagonist is nothing more than intimidating! Worth mentioning, lastly, the Armored Titan on episode 2 looks identical to Urien from SFIII, just minus the skin and thong.

I started Slayers last night (after playing a little Ducktales and having it piss me off
.)
It looks like it's going to be really cute and funny. Which is just what I needed last night after that damn Inca statue sent me to ducky hell.
They could have used some better packaging for this box set, though. I'm afraid I'm going to break this thing every time I touch it

I watch current anime. Some of it is very good, some of it is terrible. Just like anything elseSasha_Blue wrote:I also hate modern anime because I wonder, what ever happened to stand alone movies? Standalone movies are still being released, they just get less press. Check out Recollections of a Certain Pilot! It's new-school animation done right, and the rest of it is pretty old-fashioned.
