Ever since the Dreamcast, I don't really enjoy games anymore
Re: Ever since the Dreamcast, I don't really enjoy games any
Yeah I can sort of relate to this thread,In 2010 I gave up with next gen and became a full multi-platform retro gamer,i have found heading back and playing games and systems I never owned back in the day and replaying classic games I used to enjoy is more fun than playing these so called next gen games with their fancy graphics,re-used puzzle elements and short game length.I still play Zx Spectrum games after 30 years and I still enjoy them but I cannot not master them

You could say that about the Xbox too. They even had the same button layout!
I thought the same thing. I remember I trolled the GameSpot forums saying that the Xbox 360 should be called the Dreamcast 3.

Well, Sega did publish that Treasure developed Astro Boy game.

I think I'm feelin' sonikjesus on this one. I can easily imagine someone being bored with modern games after playing the distinguished titles of the Dreamcast's library. Games like Toy Commander, Power Stone, and Super Magnetic Neo can cause an itch that no other games can scratch. I'm not sure if these will quite satisfy you sonikjesus, but there's some interesting games available on Steam right now.

The Dreamcast is the cool console to love because it was Sega's swan song. They had finally gotten their shit together after the disastrous Saturn and 32X. Of course, the system failed almost instantly and had very few good games released for it. People just praise it because they see what the Dreamcast could have been if Sega had the money to keep it afloat and because they miss Sega. That's all.
As for your dislike of modern gaming, I somewhat agree but only when it comes to consoles. Handheld gaming and PC gaming (Indies mostly) has never been better. The 3DS (and PSP to a lesser extent) is where it's at for retro gamers who miss the good old days.

A few good games? Theres a ton of good games on it.
And I guess I do dislike modern gaming. I mean I feel like you have to pay for everything now. I havent seen a game that has had any cheats or cool unlockables. Now its just achievements that are unlocked or you have to pay for costumes or what have you. I dont know, it sounds lame but codes and unlockables were an awesome part of games for me. And I didnt get achievements and trophys when they first came out. I really couldnt understand. I kepta asking what the point was. They did nothing.
But yeah, I've been thinking about getting a new handheld or getting my GBA micro out again. I like the portability and theres a ton of cool games I never got to play for it.

Well, I was going to suggest buying an original Xbox and seeking out the more obscure games...
Looks like you beat me to it. Kinda...

Incorrect. Try again.
Also, good job associating "quality" with "popularity."

Re: Ever since the Dreamcast, I don't really enjoy games any
I know this thread is a little old but i can relate to the OP 110%. In fact I stopped at the Xbox 1. I then only purchased the Xbox 1 because i remember reading that many of Sega's game will appear there and Sega was working with Microsoft. The system didnt fail instantly it actually sold pretty well at first. I and many Sega fans though all was well. Shi* I remember pushing the Dreamcast on friends. I pretty much gave up gaming for years until about 3 years ago that my interest was renewed(although at a lower level). I think part of it is Nostalgia (im 38) i must admit that. Although the DC has a good library its short lifespan does limit the overall amount of (good) games on the system. Like any system the DC has its share of junk as well. It did have a dynamic first 12 months of so. Then the rumors started and games started to get canceled and support was been pulled. Till this day i loathe Sony and avoided its products rather it be a TV or DVD player.
...Ive been thinking for a while of getting a newer system just so i can play the downloadable ol skool games.

Curtsy when you walk by that Dreamcast
