The Last of Us- GOTG?

Post by graffix_13 »

As in Game Of This Generation?

This game is getting flawless reviews and is currently one of Megacritics all time highest rated games.

Personally I can't wait for the game and I hope this is the birth of another epic franchise. My only concern is that it is another overhyped GTA4 situation (no offense to GTA4 fans, I just thought that game was good not great).

It looks pretty great, however I'm so tired of these post apocalyptic settings. Especially zombie related ones.

This game's going to be pure candy for fans of those type of survival scenarios though.

Polygon gave it a 7.5...

The same score they gave to Borderlands 2, my 2012 GOTY

It's currently at 96 on Megacritic. http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstat ... last-of-us

IGN gave it a 10 (whatever that is worth) along with many other sites.

I'm just happy a game that is NOT a FPS is getting high ratings (although I do play the FPS genre, I'm just ready for something else great that is...different).

But is it really that different? The scope and story may be on a grand scale but ultimately it's a third person game where you're solving problems with violence.

That's not a criticism, just an observation.

From what I've played of the demo it doesn't feel like a drastic departure from existing genres, it is just a highly polished conglomeration of the best elements.

This is relevant: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 70#p709170 ... this was a conversation about Naughty Dog that Gamerforlife and I had on that page and on the next couple after it.

A whole rant on Naughty Dog without bringing up the delicious awfulness that is Way of the Warrior?

You mean 1994's 3DO Developers Award winner for Best Animation, Way of the Warrior?

Figures they bash every Sega game they review. Polygon are a bunch of poser hacks.
