Haven't had much interest in anything they've done in years honestly, so I hadn't planned to listen to it anyway. Needless to say, if I went to that Iron Maiden/Megadeth show, I'd really just be for Iron Maiden.

I decided to see if I could find any recent youtube vids of Overkill live to see how they're holding up, and I found one from this year with pretty nice sound:

Damn, they're pretty awesome live.

I haven't heard the entire album, but I did hear the first single, and it's TERRIBLE. I'm a huge fan of Megadeth, and I expect more from them. It sounds very repetitive, and almost poppy-sounding.

that video rules. yeah their last album is really good, also. i feel like overkill always gets overlooked but they're a really excellent classic thrash band. i still don't think they're as good as kreator, but whatever.

I've never heard that term before. What does that mean exactly? 70s rock? 80s hair metal?

i just think of it as like douchebaggy heavy mid-life crisis music, like Sammy Hagar or Buckcherry or whatever. does that make sense?

No good shows out in these parts. I should check the Portland scene.

And wow that new Megadeth is bad.

Man, there should be a lot of doom metal shows up there...

Around here we occasionally get a good show in San Antonio or Austin, and I try to keep an eye open for shows at the White Rabbitt, but almost everything around here is deathcore or metalcore stuff. Not too great...

No, different kind of screw up. The big Doom scene up there is over in Maryland, don't know why I screwed that up.

The closest I can get to any doom or anything is driving to Louisiana. Just not really any scene here. My favorite local (San Antonio) band is probably Immortal Guardian, and they're not really well received by many due to the lyrics.

And it kinda sucks when you get deeper into metal, and all the bands you like aren't big enough to tour in your area.
