What? The format war was between Blu Ray and HD-DVD, which Blu Ray clearly won.

Yea but in late 2006 Bluray was still not the winner and no one knew where we were going. There was even an HD-DVD add-on for the 360. According to wikipedia , HD-DVD didn't lose until March 2008 .

All the doomsday scenarios about xbone DRM confirmed

Post by Krejlooc »

Yeah, I know there is already an xbone thread. But this is new, and deserves its own thread:

http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/main

Hooray! No more ambiguity! Boo! They clarified that it's our worst fears!

No renting, no loaning. No private sales (unless selling to someone who has been on your friends list for 30 days)

Console Checks in Every 24 hours

Trade-ins are up to the publisher and only at participating retailers

You can give a game to a friend only if they have been on your friends list for 30 days, and then it is stuck with them.

Up to 10 family members can play your games from any console at any time

Peace out, Xbox. You were cool back in the old days.

Ehh maybe some questionable decisions, but none of those will really have any direct effect on me.

You're on a retro collecting site, and they just killed the prospect of second-hand sales and put a time limit on the lifespan of working games, and you're not affected?

Some of us simply can't afford to buy a console that barely functions - nor can we afford new games. I'm skipping right over this POS.

So I should stock up on xbox gold memberships now is what you're telling me right?

This is going to be really funny when people have no clue about this and then buy the console and wonder why it doesn't work. Remember the people that actually read about video game news and are in "the know" are a very small minority.

Yep. Sounds more and more likely that I'll be a Wii U owner.

I am always online and bought almost every game new for this gen. I didn't pay $60 for a good many of my games. You can usually find them new for the same price as used after a few months on Amazon. I will treat it more like a PC now. I haven't been able to sell most of those games for years now.
