2013 Charity Auction: Not too early to start brainstorming!

I'm down for the Hinako (one "n") trust fund. I thought last year was for some other family.

Last year's recipient was Hinako. It was planned to go to a homeless Mother, but she left the shelter and lost my confidence.

The "All bids Start at One Dollar" rule needs to go. The most consistent complaint I received was "I paid more in shipping than what X is worth", usually followed by "Well, it is for charity".

I'd suggest to whoever handles the auction to not list anything until you have a completed list. Post a final list on a specific date, and then lock that thread. Then start a separate Bidding thread. It will prevent headaches.

One of the big reasons I didn't handle it last year was because of some deadlines I was up against around auction time. This year I will likely dive back in and run it again, with some changes (including to the $1 start).

I wonder exactly what "non-profit documentation" would be. Any kind of proof that it's for non-profit? Or is there like some sort of official thing you need to get that's all notarized and whatnot?

As for glasses, in the past she really only sold Pints and Mugs. With things like Pilsners and Weizners, but they cost exponentially more to make. Pints are cheap for her since she can buy it in bulk.

Yeah, I figured as much. Well that's OK. That was in reference to the shop that's close to me, but it looks like EllertMichael is gonna help us out.

They are easy to print and easy to ship. I will be talking to both of them later this month.

Thought: If we all decide to donate to a major charity, say Special Olympics, we should get the organization involved. I'm pretty positive that larger organizations would shell out some swag such as t-shirts that we could auction off as well.
