And I'm not suggesting to make the money back from the cost of the shirts. I'm suggesting that I, or we, buy the shirts and let 100% of the sale price go to the donation. Yes, selling for less than what they cost would certainly suck, but that's the point of this thread. To figure out everything.

I think that is right mode of thinking. Basically its a donation in the form of t-shirts instead of donating games or other things. I think its a great idea if a few members would contribute to the cost in the form of cash and one member took the time to create and ship them (maybe their donation is the time and shipping cost only). That way a good number could be made and it doesn't fall on just one persons shoulders. I'd be willing contribute in this way because for the past two years I haven't had access to the excess in my collection to donate.

On a side note I'd like to nominate Breetai's daughter as the recipient of this years donation. Maybe in the form of a college fund or something comparably meaningful...

I was just reading on the LI Screen Printing website and it said, "Customers are responsible for sales tax unless a resale certificate, or non-profit documentation is provided." Now the shirt will say "Charity Auction" right on it, but some how I don't think that will be enough.

I wonder exactly what "non-profit documentation" would be. Any kind of proof that it's for non-profit? Or is there like some sort of official thing you need to get that's all notarized and whatnot?

Really don't know. lol. I guess $40-60ish. Although that depends on how neat the design is and how durable the mugs are. I don't see myself bidding too high on a mug that is thin and flimsy. I drink a lot of coffee so my mugs have to hold up.

Well here's what I was planning... Of course I will shop around a little more, but the link to the eBay listing that I posted on the first page looks great. I was thinking about ordering one mug really soon as a proof/sample, even if the design isn't final, just so I can check it out. I figure I can examine the mug and see if it's cheap dollar store or not. I can run it through the dishwasher every day (I drink a lot of coffee too) and see if it meets its claims (listing says "sublimation ink embedded into ceramic with high heat, microwave and dishwasher safe"). If it gets my seal of approval, then I'll order the total amount for the auction. If not, then I'll try one from some where else.

But awesome! $40-60 sounds fantastic to me!

As for design, the sky is the limit! Like I did with the carts, I'll be tinkering with ideas and posting them for input. I've also PM'ed Thamiel to bring this thread to his attention. He helped out a lot with the labels, and seems to be quite good with design.
