With mass storage available for cheap prices and games getting more and more complex , some games seem endless and others have 6 hour campaigns . Some take a long learning curve , others you can pick and play.
What is your gaming style? Do you prefer to be immersed in one game's world or do you prefer to change games as much as you can?
Some games can be endless like WoW or Oblivion where even after completing all the missions and expansion packs you can do stuff like glitches or special challenges (kill 100 pigeons in GTA 4?) . While other games like Call of Duty campaign is short and enjoyable.
Personally , I prefer jumping from game to game and completing as much as I can. There is so much to explore out there and get different experiences . I'd love to stay and upgrade and explore huge worlds but unfortunately time is limited.
On the other hand, I still hear of people playing long games like going through Skyrim 3 or 4 times for example.
Which game style do you prefer and why?
Do you prefer to play 1 game or skip as many as you can?
Re: Do you prefer to play 1 game or skip as many as you can?
I'm definitely more of a "jump from game to game" kind of a gamer and I normally prefer shorter games. I'm a busy guy and there are a lot of things I want to get done! I don't want to commit myself to 100 hours of fiddling around while I find every lost cat for every dumb villager in a game!
I'll play shmups many times and try to explore the mechanics/system, but even with them, it's normally: play a shmup, play something else later that day, replay that shmup the next day.
I've never had the patience to be legitimately good at Radiant Silvergun or Ikaruga, even though I like them both.
Of course, I'm playing Final Fantasy XI these days, so it's hardly a solid rule!

I pick 2 or 3 games, all of very differing experiences and play them. I like to keep the variety up so that I don't get bored, burned out or frustrated. I couldn't imagine playing 3 generic FPS games, or 3 JRPGs at the same time. I like to keep them spaces out so I do one story driven game, one multi-player oriented game and one indy-art game.

I guess in a way things are mixed. I've actively played FFXI for the vast majority of the time since US release (about a year total of inactive account over a decade). Other MMOs though, I've been pretty minimal with, if I stuck with them for long at all.
Most other games I tend to feel content to hit the credits. I won't tend to avoid side quests and the like, but I don't feel obligated to 100% something either. That being said, I look at it more as whether I'm having fun or not, since that's the point. I'm not going to force myself to move on if I'm still enjoying hunting for hidden stuff or trying new paths in a subsequent playthrough.

Yeah i try to play as many as i can, for some reasons there are games that i enjoy but never finish. But i know that i really enjoy a game if i beat it thanks to this system
But i think i like more the idea of beating as many as i can instead of playing as many as i can.

My favorite type of game is the 20-30 hour JRPG.

I hop around. I try to beat one game at a time but if it's a longer game I often lose interest unless I'm really into it.

Depends on the game. Some games, like Morrowind or Left 4 Dead 2, can suck me in and have me play it as my primary game for a long time. But more often I will play through a dozen games instead of one super long one. I do not play for achievements, I play for entertainment.

If i'm spending more than a few hours playing something, I have to be excited for it and I have to actually have the time to do it. Those two things rarely line up anymore. I managed to rush through Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite when they each came out, but that's the longest i've actually spent playing anything in awhile.
Most of my gaming anymore has to be instant. I flip something on, the game is playing, and I can put it down after 15 minutes and feel like i've actually done something.
Having to wait for a system to boot up, scroll through menus, install the game, download the day 1 patch, wait 5 more minutes to get to the main menu, then watch 20 minutes worth of opening cut scenes leaves me feeling like i've wasted a ton of time. So most of the new, 50+ hour, open world games that are coming out are kind of lost on me. As much as i'd love to play them, they just take too long for me anymore.

I must say that some games have the power to suck you in , where they use a system that you have to level-up and after a long time playing you are so powerful and capable , but then it hurts to leave the game and go do something else because you worked so hard to come up to this level...
its a mind trick, I think this is probably most powerful in WoW
