It's not a fallacy just because you say it's a fallacy. The distinction isn't meaningful just because you say it's meaningful.

Just because you say it's not a fallacy doesn't make it not a fallacy. Just because you say it isn't meaningful doesn't mean it's not meaningful.

See how productive that was?

Luckily, I said neither. You did, however, claim that it is a fallacy and that the distinction is meaningful.

I feel like I'm watching a modern day Plato and Socrates dialogue. What would either of the two say about video games?

Socrates wrote:Planescape: Torment is the high peak of Western civilization

I've heard that the founding fathers of USA dig Day of the Tentacle.

Looking at MSRP histories...

PS2 release price: $300
PS2 price in 2006: $129

PS3 release price: $500-$600
PS3 price in 2013: $270-$300

If the PS3 sees another cut before the release of the PS4, it would likely bring it right in line with the PS2 price drop to just below half of the cost of the system at launch.

Wow, we're already talking about the PS3 like it's the PS2...God, I feel so old. I remember picking up the PS1 and PS2 at launch, and am just now falling in love with my PS3. Where does the time go?!

Tell me about it, this gen is the only one that I have been following from launch to end. I feel so old , seeing something being launched as the next mouth watering graphics/technology then end up being old or weak. But to be honest , this generation must be the first generation in videogames history that by the time its over the graphics are mesmerizing . I mean its hard to tell me that you insert Uncharted and say "Boy, those graphics look old" . Its still amazing! I think we are reached this level where graphics have matured enough that its hard to look at and say its not good enough.

Anyway, the reason the ps3 is going to live on is that it has a huge great games library , not to mention the PSN which has ps2 and psx games , thats like 2 more consoles in that box. In addition to the indie games. Its a bluray/dvd player, Hulu and Netflix player , and the ps4 will not look attempting to buy game library or price wise until at least a year after release. I remember how the ps3 had a terrible launched and it seemed an imminent failure (No games, 360 launched a year earlier had better graphics in comparison , Bluray didn't win format war, price was too high, online multiplayer was superior on the 360)

I am amazed that by the end the ps3 turned out to be the best console this generation. I know the Wii sold more , but I really doubt that in retrospect any one will look back and will choose the Wii's gaming library over the the PS3 except for Nintendo fans.

What? The format war was between Blu Ray and HD-DVD, which Blu Ray clearly won.

I kinda see what he is saying. When PS3 was launched Blu-Ray was losing the format war to HD-DVD and DVD's in general.

When you actually look back and think about it, if it wasn't for the PS3 I'm not sure Blu-Ray would would of won the format war.

I don't think they were losing to HD-DVD. No one wanted anything to do with either at the time, since there wasn't a huge difference for the average consumer between a DVD and a high def format (and not like tape->DVD being an awesome transition just for no rewinds).
