So, he'd been "getting the color right" and "setting up spacing" for nearly 5 days and we got this (mildly NSFW)

I'm pretty sure I could come up with something better in Gimp, and there is not a single artistic bone in my body. The guy is an "Art" major? Has he ever taken any graphic design courses?
Sorry, but that's just bad...

So im not the only one that sees it. As an example, this is what I made in like 30 minutes and sent to him. He claimed he 'designed' his flyer from the bottom up and 'didn't let a camera do it for him.'

I don't get it. He just used fucking clipart like anyone else would have. At least I used a picture of our own band.

Actually, I like yours a lot better. With a little extra polish, it wouldn't be wouldn't be bad at all. (Not just saying that to be nice). Simple, relative, to the point, and doesn't look like somebody puked/pissed all over the edges.

Yeah yours definitely looks a lot better. I still would've personally gone with something B&W for cost reasons, but hey whatever.

It's not necessarily perfect, but it works and you didn't have to spend 5 days on it.

What gets me is that the color in my version pretty much matches everywhere. We have dark reds, blacks and yellows. There are a few spots where it doesn't match but WHO CARES.

For someone 'getting the color right' for over 4 days or so, it's all over the place. The fonts don't match each other, and he's got some weirdass ghost thing going on with the age/cover.

Half of our workstations went down when our LDAP server tried to switch over to our secondary UPS this morning. There was a giant THUD, and then a lot of screaming and running around.

My workstation was unaffected. Back to work...
