I think the original line of thought was that all the ports on MSA were emulated, so if this is true, then the Wii version should play better due to the roms being run on better hardware.BurningDoom wrote:The GameCube controller isn't bad, by any means. But the PS2 controller is better, the D-pad works a lot better.
And isn't the Wii version the same game as the PS2 version, but just a port?

Both pieces of hardware are a decade ahead, though, so should it really matter?foxhound1022 wrote:I think the original line of thought was that all the ports on MSA were emulated, so if this is true, then the Wii version should play better due to the roms being run on better hardware.BurningDoom wrote:The GameCube controller isn't bad, by any means. Only if it was programmed for one and poorly ported to the other.BurningDoom wrote:Both pieces of hardware are a decade ahead, though, so should it really matter?foxhound1022 wrote:I think the original line of thought was that all the ports on MSA were emulated, so if this is true, then the Wii version should play better due to the roms being run on better hardware.BurningDoom wrote:The GameCube controller isn't bad, by any means. Are you sure about this? 6 on the PSP is emulated, obvious by the fact that it flashes for 2p press start which means it's obviously emulated.emwearz wrote: Metal Slug 6 (are least on the PS2/Wii version) in Anthology is a port, not emulated like the first 6 titles in the series.

The PSP version features multiplayer doesn't it?dmike wrote:Are you sure about this? 6 on the PSP is emulated, obvious by the fact that it flashes for 2p press start which means it's obviously emulated.emwearz wrote: Metal Slug 6 (are least on the PS2/Wii version) in Anthology is a port, not emulated like the first 6 titles in the series.
Re: Definitive ports of the Metal Slug games?
I may just go with the versions I listed in a previous post. Questions...
-Is the VC version of MS2 worth getting (what with problems like no 480p/60HZ and such)?
-Should I get a Saturn and MS1 or just get the PS1 version?
-Does MSX have a separate Saturn version which is better?

N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.

- If you TV does not support 240P then you won't be able to play MS2 via component cables via the Wii's VC, you can play it via composite cables though. Although, you are better off just buying Anthology.
- I am not sure, from what I have seen around I think I would prefer the Saturn version myself.
- No, the only console port outside of Anthology (and SNK hardware) for MSX is the PS1 version.

Unless it does something different with Neo Geo, Wii only outputs 240p over component if you have the console set to 480i. It linedoubles everything to 480p otherwise.emwearz wrote: - If you TV does not support 240P then you won't be able to play MS2 via component cables via the Wii's VC, you can play it via composite cables though. Re: Definitive ports of the Metal Slug games?
Looked up the problem, a lot of people have it with Neogeo games, apparently due to interlacing signals over component.AppleQueso wrote:Unless it does something different with Neo Geo, Wii only outputs 240p over component if you have the console set to 480i. Just tried it and it worked for me, easier than swapping out cables, but still annoying, but at least you can use your classic controller. Still easier to buy Anthology though.A lot of VC games are presented interlaced (in this case that would be 480i), so it could be that your TV won't display interlaced content over component. Best to check with your TV's manufacturer in case there's a setting you're not aware of that could sort things.
You can also try activating Component Interlace mode as follows:
The mode can be enabled by accessing the operations guide of the game, and (with the Nunchuk attached) pressing the buttons Z + A + 2 simultaneously.
The mode can be disabled by using the same method, but with the button combination Z + A + 1 instead.
