So I am under the impression that there are some hacked servers still open for this series on the cube, and I was thinking about nabbing a BBA and keyboard so I could give it a run sometime, but then I came to the realization that I have no idea what kind of KB works for the system or what the most practical way to do it is (for US users). Was there a USB adapter? Specifically made keyboard? It's a bit hard to find info on for me, so i'm curious for the people who were there (or just know), what methods exist? Someone I know linked me to this site but they didn't know if it was legit either, as one alternative. http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/GCN- ... 00313.aspx

Do you know if that site is legitimate though? Never heard of it before, seems odd for them to be selling something like that today considering the fate of mainstream PSOFragems wrote:The powerboard is legit.

Found it on Amazon maybe. They are saying its a PC keyboard but the description clearly states it is the GameCube one. Might try contacting one of the sellers and confirming its the GC one. They have it for as low as $15 new shipped if it is.

This isn't intended to sound fanboyish at all, but the answer to "know did people communicate in Phantasy Star Online on Gamecube" is rather simple - they didn't. PS0 sold measurably on the GameCube because Nintendo just didn't have their act together for online gaming whatsoever. Even the Xbox version outsold it, and we all know how the Japanese adopted the original Xbox.

Are you sure? I was under the impression the Xbox version was grossly outsold by the Cube original, and far more popular.. I owned the Xbox one in the day and not many were on, but people made fun of me saying the cube population was much biggerSatoshi_Matrix wrote:This isn't intended to sound fanboyish at all, but the answer to "know did people communicate in Phantasy Star Online on Gamecube" is rather simple - they didn't. The CodeJunkies site is the official Datel sales site. That's probably why they still have them in stock. That's also where I bought mine ten years ago. However, you could also see if aaron would pick up one for you: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 47&t=42992. The ASCII keyboard controller is probably the best option, but it was never released in the US, so it's hard to come by.goldenpp72 wrote:Someone I know linked me to this site but they didn't know if it was legit either, as one alternative. http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/GCN- ... 00313.aspx
Using a keyboard is the easiest way to communicate in PSO, but there are also selectable phrases you can say with the controller, which allows for basic communication. Those phrases also translate automatically to the other languages PSO is playable in. Additionally, you can type in custom phrases and call them up with a button press. There's an on-screen keyboard as well, but it's not really practical for using in-game.
