Wasn't sure where to put this, so it's going here. What do you guys recommend for recording gameplay footage? I want to try my hand at doing video reviews for games I own, but I have no idea how one would go about doing such a thing, considering I need gameplay stuff to show.
I want to do this, but I don't have much money to spend. What would be the cheapest way to go about this venture, and still have it turn out at least decent?

That was a bit insulting, considering I didn't even know where to begin. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to mock someone who has no idea what they're doing.

If you want to go just about the cheapest route you can try one of these.

I bought one a while back and the quality is okay but not great. Was considering making some let's play or review videos, but quickly gave up after I realized just how crappy my upload speed was
. If your interested I could cut you a good deal on mine since I no longer have a use for it.

Here is the suggestion I got when asking about video capture methods a while back.
Metal Jesus wrote:I used the Elgato USB capture device for the 1st 120 videos I created. Worked great!
Recently upgraded to the Elgato HD so I could capture new consoles too, plus built into streaming.

Thanks, the Standard one is probably what I'll go with, considering I currently don't have anything higher resolution than a Wii. I'm planning on getting a PS3 within the year though, but we'll burn that bridge when we get there.

Re: Recording gameplay
I got the elgato game capture HD last week and its a great device but, as always, if your PC is at least a year old you'll struggle just to get it to run satisfactorily. I have the minimum requirements but we all know those are BS. Still trying to ratchet down the settings enough to get it to not have a fit every 5-10 minutes
