What Flashlight do you like to use?
Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
I admit to initially misreading "flashlight". I think it was the capitalization.

When BurningDoom started talking about using his cell phone I was going "WHAT."

Yes, that exists unofficially and no I don't own a fleshlight. I was alerted to its existence by the internets.

For some odd reason people always see right through that excuse.Hobie-wan wrote: I was alerted to its existence by the internets.

Well, Topless Robot is a daily fun nerd blog read, and there it was and now it is burned into my mind like many other horrible other internet things. Whether you believe me or not, somehow I'll probably still sleep fine tonight.casterofdreams wrote:For some odd reason people always see right through that excuse.Hobie-wan wrote: I was alerted to its existence by the internets.
If you don't use flashblock, the youtube preview image for the video is not safe for work.

Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
Well now I've seen it all.
In any event does anyone else have some sort of flashlight they use whether it be one in a bug out bag or for work?

... Fantasy Avatar masturbation sex aside ... I don't have any Maglite's, sadly. I recently got a couple adjustable Feit Electric LED ones. They're ridiculously bright. I've got one hanging under a foldout gazebo outside right now for night time grillin'.
Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
I bought my dad a Wickedlasers Torch for christmas a couple of years ago. It's crazy bright and does burn skin from a distance. He loves that thing.
I've bought over 15 flashlights in the past couple of years and most buys are the result of lurking in the Candlepower forums.
I buy these in bulk every year. Very useful because they're so small, and bright enough for any task - at work I give these to my welders for checking TIG boiler tube joints since they fit between the tube sheet:
2032 keychain LED flashlight They go for about 4 hours before dimming. At less than a dollar a peice (less if bought in bulk) they're great.
My current EDC is the Streamlight Stylus Pro. for a 2x AAA light, it goes for over 6 hours with a good throw. I have bought several of these for gifts and carry one all the time.
My previous EDC was a 1x AA - the Photon Proton Pro. I haven't found another single AA light that is this bright - My friend calls it "obscenely bright". I've bought several of these as well, but they're so small I tend to lose them (or they get stolen?!?). In any case I highly recommed them. They do tend to run through batteries fast, but it's totally worth it.
I'm currently waiting for batteries and a charger, but my newest flashlight is the Zebralight SC600 Mk II. Reportedly, it's capable of 900 Lumens on a single small battery (a 3.7 volt 18650 cell for about 5 minutes). Can't wait to try it out.
I also lost (or got stolen I'm pretty sure) a JETBeam JET-I PRO V3.0 that ran on a single 3.7 volt. A great flashlight as well.
The rest of the flashlights I've bought were either uninteresting or dissapointing. After owning the ones listed above I've just been trying to find cheaper replacements for each of the battery types. The cheaper lights always fall short of the build quality and sheer brightness those ones I listed.

Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
At one point I was considering a flashlight with a strike bezel since at the time I was working in Manhattan and I would always finish work when it was dark outside. A nice one from Surefire was too expensive for me. I no longer work in Manhattan and now work in New Jersey so I don't need something like that anymore. I'm just amazed that a flashlight can be specifically used in self defense.
Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
Maglite flashlights are where it's at!casterofdreams wrote:I have the Maglite 4D flashlight. I picked it up for $20 from Home Depot in a black finish. I don't like the beam in that it uses a traditional lamp and has a yellow light rather than the nicer bright white LED lights now-a-days. I keep it in a car because it doubles as a self defense weapon. Painful!
I too have a 4D with the incandescent bulb, and I got it for free! Found it in the parking lot years ago at work, before we had the non-games finds thread. I keep it behind my bed where I can reach. A flashlight in arms reach of your bed is smart, and yeah, it totally doubles as a weapon.
Earlier this year, I had to pull out long runs of cables in a drop ceiling. I forgot my Maglite at home so I decided to buy another one. Now I forget if I got a 2D or 3D, but I got the LED kind. Hot damn, that thing is BRIGHT! In the drop ceiling, I could shine that thing from one end of the store and see the other end. It is with out a doubt the brightest flashlight I've ever seen.
