JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is awesome (also, not really based on anime, but on manga, since there isn't a proper anime series).

Also, UN Squadron is based on the Area 88 manga, which is pretty great.

Afro Samurai, I reckon, is decent as well.

You need to watch the series that just ran, it is amazing. It only covers Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency, but there is hopes that it is going to continue on to adapt the other parts as well.

If I like the Show, the games absolutely SUCK. (Cowboy Bebop, Kenshin, Sailor Moon,Ghost in the Shell,Samurai Champlool)
If the show bores me or I hate it, the games are usually awesome and worth checking out. (Bleach, Naruto, Gundam)

The Only Real exception to the Rule is Macross. Is this the case with the rest of you?

I understand some people like Sailor Moon games, but they're mostly just boring and easy Beat em ups or fighters.
Record of Lodoss Wars for the dreamcast is really good.
SOOOOO much grinding in that game. Not fun. It really could have been if you didn't have to grind forever before moving on to the next area. Very nice looking Diablo clone with some cool cutscenes.

I love the anime, BTW. And I'm not a big anime guy.

Not too big? The anime BUTCHERED the game. Seriously, it took some serious characters and a fun heartfelt story and filled it with a bunch of shitty anime tropes.

FFS it had an entire panties scene for Alicia....SERIOUSLY........her panties got blown by the wind and picked up by another guy, who she DOESN'T flirt with in the game.....seriously, don't remind me......specially what they did to Selvaria :'(

I actually thought this new series adapted the later arcs (which I haven't followed). Thanks for heads up!

I thought the Ghost in the Shell game was pretty good, though not as cool as the movie.

Also, I like the Fist of the North Star movie, though it's not something you can take serious because a head explodes every 3 seconds. I also like a few of the games made from this franchise. The Arc Systems Works version is particularly good, and I even like the old NES game... at least in memory. It's been a really long time and maybe I would hate it now.

In my experience, anime adaptations fare about as well as any other video game adaptation.

Pretty much. You get some outright classics, some flat out turds, and everything in between.

Many anime titles have had great video game adaptations: Sailor Moon, Berserk, Record of Lodoss War, Tenchi Muyo, Astro Boy, Magic Knight Rayearth, Akazukin Chacha, Little Nemo, Vampire Hunter D, etc...
