Second best after S&K with all Hyper Emeralds, would be Sonic Adventure 2. That last stage, that final boss battle, THAT final boss music....all pure epic awesome.Xeogred wrote:Man no joke really, most of the Sonic's (topped off with getting all the Emeralds) really do have awesome endings.

Sonic CD takes the cake for me. A fully animated anime-style retelling of the entire game? Capping with the race against Metal Sonic? Awesome stuff. I actually prefer the bad ending to the good one for the way Sonic blows up Robotnik, escaping with the red Time Stone, with the rock. And the Robotnik-shaped cloud, lol.ZeroAX wrote:Second best after S&K with all Hyper Emeralds, would be Sonic Adventure 2. Well it's only like 2 minutes long, and they're just clips, it's not like it goes through entire zones. But back in 1993? That stuff was mindblowing.ZeroAX wrote:yeah........I need to play that game already
The intro is pretty awesome too:
EDIT: Or for the JPN/EU crowd:

I just finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I found all four endings were quite decent, though the final boss was a bit of a joke. If you like a bit of philosophy/social critique with your gaming, I recommend it.

Conversely, if you like it by the boatloads, try Spec Ops: The Line. It'll make you feel terrible about everything you've ever done in a video game.Retrogamer0001 wrote:I just finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I found all four endings were quite decent, though the final boss was a bit of a joke. And it's ending is pretty great.

1. There is a very hilarious and unexpected bit in the Sonic Generations ending where...
2. Double Dragon Neon. Forget spoiler text, I'll just post the video. Even if you haven't played the game yet, watch it anyway. It's not like a spoiler is going to ruin a game like this that is light on story anyway, and the ending is hilarious, even more so on the PS3 version because of the trophy/achievement gag, which they effed up on the 360 version. This is quite literally one of the best video game endings I have ever seen.

Re: Surprisingly satisfying video game endings
I would say the Zelda series has very satisfying endings. Both Windwaker and Ocarina of Time had VERY memorable and emotional endings

Re: Surprisingly satisfying video game endings
OoT has probably the best ending I've ever seen in any high-level Nintendo game. Even if the rest of the game hadn't been as good as it was it was still the perfect way to do it.

Re: Surprisingly satisfying video game endings
What are we defining as "ending" here? Because the entire final sequence to Super Metroid -- beginning with the Mother Brain boss battle -- has to be the pinnacle of anything Nintendo, IMO.BoringSupreez wrote:OoT has probably the best ending I've ever seen in any high-level Nintendo game. EDIT: BUt I wouldn't call either of those game's endings "surprisingly good." They seemed about right for the production, and they way the games had presented their atmosphere and story leading up. What I meant in the OP is that, nowhere during RoDA would I have expected to be satisfied by an ending.
Star Fox 64 is a Nintendo game with a surprisingly great ending, especially on the most difficult route.
