As much as you think that you're the only one in town who collects, just remember that those used games got there from someone else trading/selling them.
Always pay attention to who trades stuff in while you're there. I picked up a lot of my rare NES stuff for pennies on the dollar from a guy who I met selling stuff in a local game shop. I ran into him downtown one day and he invited me to his house and let me look through his stuff, I offered him a few more bucks than the store did and now he calls me once every few weeks to unload stuff. The first night I went there I picked up about 40 good NES games for around $60.
I hate ordering off eBay/Amazon too unless it's something I want to play that day. I'd much rather hold out for a deal locally or on a forum.
Classic Game Prices...Questionable.

Reminds me of this one older couple at the flea market around here a few years ago. They were selling some old games for ridiculous prices. For example, a cart only copy of Ocarina of Time was going for somewhere between $20-$30 under a glass case with a few other games labeled "Rare" or something like that. And that's kinda crazy considering I saw OoT at a Gamestop in Northern VA that had at least 10-12 copies for at least $10 or something.
Same with the Press Start Video Games store here in town. Like the place, but no way is anybody going to pay $30 for a cart only copy of Contra. Shame that some indoor flea market nearby isn't around. They had some NES games going for between $5-$8, which of course I snagged Super C.

Never underestimate the purchasing power of hipsters.TheSSNintendo wrote: Same with the Press Start Video Games store here in town. Like the place, but no way is anybody going to pay $30 for a cart only copy of Contra.

Do hipsters even exist anymore? The term's been so overused now that it seems like only twats use the term these days.Teh Lurv wrote: Never underestimate the purchasing power of hipsters.

Hipsters don't self-identify, unless it's ironic. But yes, they do exist. Lower Haight and The Mission in SF, Williamsburg and somewhat East Village in New York City, and all of Portland.ApolloBoy wrote:Do hipsters even exist anymore? How is Brooklyn for old games? My sister lives there and I usually end up there once a year. I'm sure NYC gives you more than a few places to hit up.o.pwuaioc wrote:Hipsters don't self-identify, unless it's ironic. But yes, they do exist.
