Go to another computer and download Malwarebytes Anti Malware with updated definitions and Ccleaner. Boot computer in safemode, install both products. Run Malwarebytes, when it is done, run Ccleaners cleanup and erase any programs you do not need.

That cleans up the majority of issues with most pcs

After Earth looks cool, so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. No offense intended, but the critics hated a lot of movies I like, so at this point I choose not to pay attention to them. Sorry.

I'll try that, thanks. If it doesn't work, though, I'm gonna have to take it into the shop because I've tried everything else I can think of and I'm out of ideas.

No need to be sorry. Just trying to warn you that it is a Jaden Smith shit fest. He's too much of a distraction. You can tell when he's waiting for his cue, he does that lip thing where you can tell he's reading someone's lines with them, and he simply isn't believable.

But yeah, you might like it.

Frown: Malwarebytes didn't work. It caught three things and I deleted them all, but when I rebooted and ran a regular virus scan, it still showed my C drive underneath an SVC directory, so even with the most recent update (dated today), it didn't catch whatever I'm infected with. It looks like the Geek Squad is my only option now. Sigh.

More like "Last resort".

Isn't there some duder at work/school/friend of a friend who could lend a hand? Perhaps a Computer Peripheral store?

Geek Squad is to computers as Jiffy Lube is to oil changes. I'd explore my options.

Smile: Looking at a new old car to replace the Miata.

Frown: Looking at replacing the Miata.

Smile: I'll own another one certainly. When I have the funds (probably after college), I'd like to run in SCCA Spec Miata.

My last semester of high school ends in 4 days. Just 7 till graduation. Bout damn time. 8)

It won't be. That would be like leaving a window halfway down and food in the car overnight to find that raccoons have trashed the interior, then expecting the dealership to cover the repair under warranty.
