Gizmondo

Post by nick944 »

Is anyone else excited about the relaunch of the Gizmondo later this year? I've been thinking about getting one for awhile and am definately going to buy a new one. Does anyone know if it will be a worldwide launch or just UK?

I would get one if it wasnt just in the UK. I personally think its a really neat peice of equipment (just like the ngage) that often gets beetin apon (sticky ballz was fun despite the unusual name)

It did have a very limited release in the US, mostly online or in mall kiosks though (which might explain why I never heard of it until last year)

Oh. I thought you were joking when you said you were excited about the launch. Thought the whole Gizmondo debacle was dead and buried.

Relaunching it seems like a bad idea :) Although I like the N-Gage (which actually has a lot of positives), I think the Gizmondo has very little saving graces (particularly for the price they retailed for). If the re-launch price is much cheaper (as it seems like it will be) then it is a different story, as it may be an interesting GPS with some other thrills on the side (I don't see it doing well as "just" a gaming console).

There is a write up about this little beast on digital press that was ok. To tell you the truth it doesn't look anything special to me. Other than a couple titles is seems designed more for modern gamers.

Some of the games that look great to me are Colors, which seems like GTA in a way. Catapult (unreleased) looks amazing with AR Some of the others look amazing too. The graphics are somewhere around the PSP on most things.

It uses the Gizmondo's camera and the square placed down, so it can look like the game is taking place wherever you place the square, which sounds amazing to me.
